Dull lor the Season.
Col. M. G, Boyd has returned from
Atlanta,
Wo have not been able to gather any j
nows of interest this week.
The near approach of Christmas
should lira e ns chcertul and buoyant.
Few persons know anything about
tho troubles iu a country printing office.
Country editors ara a!mwsS'vmivo’ml

Our pastor, P.cv. Win. 0. Butler, has
gone to the Annual Conference, which
is in sessiou this week.
This hag ,.been a week of but little
sunshine in these parts, and much rain
has fallen.
We feel, taking all things intoconsid
eration, that we have worked almost a
miracle in having gotten out any paper
at all this week.
YY r o are very sorry to learn from Dr.
J. .W Underwood, of Shoal Creek, that
his wife who has so long been confined

Mr. J, F. Merritt, four miles North of
this place has raised this year a large
crop of tho finest riee that wo have ever
seen grown in this county. It is equal,
if not superior to most of the low coun¬
try rice. Mr. Merritt is not only a rico
grower, but a good farmer and a clever
gentleman.
CHRISTMAS TREE.
To gladden tho hearts of tho little
folk and big ones too, a Christmas
Tree has been suggested, aDd the fol¬
lowing gentlemen bavo been appointed
a committee of arrangement, and it is
suggested that this committee invite
two or three ladies to assist them.
John H. Pitchford, H. I). Iugersoll,

Church, W. B. Boll, Committee.
As one of tho committee, we suggest
that there be a contribution box, acees
sable to ail who wish to contribute to a
friend, and that the donor label tho
present with the donees name. Also,
another contribution box, for those who
wish to contribute for general distribu¬
tion fund, and that tbe last named box
bo made accessable for ten days before
Christmas.
