Mondiy afternoon aboat 4 o’clock the steamer City of Albany announced her arrival by the shrill blast ot the whistle and Mr. J. M. Tift who was near the river watched the appioach of the vessel with great interest. As the boat tied up at the wharf at the foot of Broad street Mr Tift engag ed in coaversatlon with the Captain, H. H. Rouse, and while talking to the latter spied two alligators on the deck ot the steamer. Where did you get them ?” asked Mr. Tift. I shot them on ray way up between here and Newton. I will give you hit large one if you want it.” Mr. Tift was just preparing.to offer to buy one when Capt. Rouse made the offer.
