Win Thrid Place In Hinesville Tournament
The Tattnall Auto Parts Softball Team
played in an invitational softball tourna
nent in Walthourville. The teams consisted
)f Hinesville Bank, Deason TV, T. G. Hyers,
Dairy Park, Glennville Rebels, Mclntosh
Bounty, Liberty County, and Tattnall Auto
'arts.
The tournament lasted for two days and
:he winners were, Ist place, T. G. Hyers, Jes
ip; 2nd place, Dairy Park, Metter; 3rd place,
Fattnall Auto Parts, Reidsville.
Also Tattnall Auto Parts took home the
Sportsmanship Trophy.
Tattnall Auto Parts is very proud of Re
becca Bradley for out of over 100 girls she
von the Most Valuable Player Trophy.
Georgia Football Facts
In his three war
interrupted years at
Georgia, Charley Trippi
paced Georgia to three bowl
victories. During those
three years, the Bulldogs
won 31 and lost 3.
As a sophomore in 1942,
Charley was back up to the
immortal Frank Sinkwich;
but in the Rose Bowl, with
Sinkwich hurt, Trippi
rushed for 115 yards and
Georgia defeated UCLA 9-0.
When Trippi returned to
Athens in 1945, he led the
Bulldogs to eight wins and 2
losses. That season he
established a single game
Georgia rushing mark as he
hammered for 239 yards in a
34-0 conquest of Florida.
The All-American directed
his team to a 20-6 win over
Tulsa in the Oil Bowl. Trippi

The Tattnall Auto Parts won the tourna
ment Championship Trophy in the Glenn
ville tournament, of which we are very proud.
The second place winners were Glennville
Rebels and third place winners were the
Saints from Glennville.

As a senior, Charley
Trippi repeated as an All-
American and led Georgia
to an undefeated and untied
SEC championship. Closing
out his career, Trippi
played the entire Sugar
Bowl Game. Georgia won
20-10 over North Carolina,
and Charley fired a 67-yard
scoring strike, a Sugar Bowl
record.
In 1959 he was elected to
the College Football Hall of
Fame, and in 1968 he was
inducted into the Pro
Football Hall of Fame.
Many consider him to be the
greatest all-around back
who ever played in the

Rev. Lamar Moore of Lex
ington, N. C., will be guest
speaker. He Is the son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Moore
of Cobbtown. He finished
school at Collins High School
in Class of 1951 and Mercer
University, then at South
eastern Seminary in Wake
Forest, N. C.
Rev. Moore was a member
of the Conors Church and was
ordained into the Ministry in
this church. Since that time
he has served churches In
Georgia and North Carolina.
At the present he is pastoring
the Center Hill Baptist
Church in Lexington, N. C.
Rev. Moore Is married to the
former Miss Joyce Willis of
Davis, N. C. They have three
daughters, Amy, and twins,
Donna and Cynthia.
