At the hospitable, home of Mr.
and Mrs. J. N. Baker, npar Bo
naire, the fifteenth annual reun
ion of Company K., Confederate
veterans, was enjoyed last Thurs
day by about 76 happy people,
men, women and children. The!
day was the 40th anniversary for
mal entrance of the company into
the Confederate service as a part
of the Eleventh Georgia regiment.
The guests had arrived by 10
o’clock, and in the parlor, on the
porch, and in the shade of-the
trees in front of the house, they
enjoyed themselves informally.
There was music on piano and
violin and singing in the parlor,
while on the porch and in the
yard reminiscences of the War
were related by the veterans.
In a shaded place out doors din
ner tables were, arranged. A sep
arate table for Veterans of Com
pany IC. was prepared, and at

to Perry this week from Florida,
where his wife and children are
visiting relatives.

—Miss Louire Walton of Dub
lin is in Perry, and will divide
her visit between Misses Sue Wel-
lons and Blossom Davis.
—Mr. and) Mrs. R. P. HollinB-
head and son of Fort Valley are in
Perrv visiting her parents, Mr.
and Mrs ,; Fred M. Houser.
—Mrs. Ida Rogers, daughter
and sons, Miss Amelia, Gordon

The divine blessing was invoked
by Comrade J. T. Walker, and
then a dinner that cannot be suf*
passed, sufficient for twice the
number, w^as discussed with su
preme enjoyment. The barbe
cued pork and mutton was good
as it was possible to make it.
At 2:80 p. m. the company was
called to order by Secretary Wal
ker, and Comrade T. N. White
was elected chairman.
The roll of 180 members was
called, but only 8 answered to
their names. Seven of them live
in Houston, Mr. John Nelson be
ing a citizen of Pulaski county,
at Mingo.
There was a memorial read by
Secretary Walker, a selected poem
by Comrade F. M, Walker, some
discussion, and a speeoh by Mr.
W. H. Norwood.
Comrade J. T. Leverett will be
host at the next reunion, with
Comrade T. N. White as alternate.
A resolution of thanks to Mr.
and Mrs. Barker for their most
cordial hospitality was enthusias
tically adopted.
Just prior to the departure of
the veterans and guests, a number
of ladies and gentlemen sang with
pleasing harmony that beautiful
song, “God be with you until we
mbet again.”
This reunion, barring the ex
treme heat, was one of the most
enjoyable ever attended.
There will be no frills and flour
ishes about the Confederate Vete
rans’ reunion at Perry, on July
25th. It has been agreed that the
veterans and their families who.
attend will provide a basket din
ner, and those not veterans who
attend will enjoy with the vete
rans their reunion and assist them
in providing the dinner.
The chief purpose is to have as
full a reunion of Houston Vete
rans as possible, and to place the
Houston Camp U. 0. V. on a firm
er footing.
By invitation Capt. W. A. Da
vis of Macon will deliver an ad
dress to the veterans.
The ranks of the veterans, than
whom nobler and truer men never
lived, are being constantly thinn
ed by death, and their reunions
strike a tender,chord in the hearts
of all the peQple who love patriot
ism and truth.

appointed at the last meeting of
Confederate Veterans,it was deci
ded that there be a reunion of
Confederate Veterans of Houston
county at Perry on July 26th, and
there will be a basket dinner at
the 4 armory.
All who attend are expected to
bring baskets.
Capt W. A. Davis of Macon
will address the Confederate Vete
rans some time during the day.
We can make a very pleasant
and profitable day to each of us
if wo will only lay aside business
and can come together that day
determined to be happy and en
joy ourselves.
J. R. Miller was appointed a
committee oil refreshments.
There will be election of officers
for the H. C. 0. V. A. and Hous
ton county Gamp 880 on that day.
Let every veteran in the coun
try come to this reunion; let none

—A friend whose farming
terests are near Elko, wrote
last Monday: “We are
some rain now; cotton crop doing
very well; corn orop badly dam
aged; health very good. ”
—The monthly business and so
cial meeting of the Perry Epworth
League will be at the home of Mr.
v R. L. Marchman Friday night of
this week. An interesting .pro
gram has been prepared and i
full attendance is desired.
—There was an excellent rain
last Wednesday at Perry, extend
ing south, east and north-east,
!but in other directions it didn’t
extend far. In parts of the 10th
and Lower 11th districts the wind
damaged crops considerably.
—Re'v. F. W. Perkins preached
at the Perry Presbyterian church
last Sunday morning and night,
and. he created a decidedly favor
able impression. He will preach
here on the first Sunday of each
month at least until November
next.

—The rifle team of the Perry
Rifles, under oommand of Capt.
R. L. Cater, went up to Macon
Monday morning to attend the
state military encampment and
rifle practice. The team consists
of Edwin Martin, Rudolph Schill
ing, Tom Adkins, Rob Holtzolaw
and Jo jug Hodges. Mr. R. L.
Marchnian, who went up with the
team, returned home with Capt.
Cater Monday evening.
—Mr. R. L. Marchman has
opened a livery stable in Perry,
in the building on Main street be
longing to Mr. C. F. Cooper. He
lias bought horses, buggies, a car
riage, and proposes to give his
patrons up-to-date service. He
will also operate a $ray line, and
has for sale buggieB and wagons.

—Last Saturday we heard a
gentleman who has extensive
farming interests near Grovania
