pastor of the Perry Methodist
church, has consented to write
an article every week for The
Home Journal. Rev. Mr. Muse’s
contribution, “Mr. M. T. Pew,”
had a favorable reception from
our readers last week and we
feel sure they will be glad to
learn that he is to write every
week for us.
Mr. Muse has written a column
in The Dawson News for several
years. He is a contributor to
The Ashburn Wiregrass Farmer
and one of the editors of The
Wesleyan Christian advocate. He
is in his first year as pastor of
the Perry church.

cated recently in the new home
of the Houston Home Journal at
Perry. None rejoices with them,
tho not permitted to be present
more than does editor of this
paper. An important bit of his
tory is liked with the building
formerly occupied by the Jour
nal which is now being torn
<iown for modern improvements
in keeping with tarry’s pro
gressive spirit. The building,
said to have been erected more
than ninety years ago, has hous
ed many enterprises as well as
furnishing offices for ma n y
prominent officials and |nun;

Perry’s most beloved couples,
who on Jan. 23rd celebrated their
golden wedding anniversary.
They are natives of Perry, and
their forebears were among the
early settlers of the town and
county and were prominent fac
tors in the history and develop

Ely.’’ It was written by Stephen C.
Foster in 1849 as a negro song. It
is possible that the “Nellie Ely”
who went around the world in 1839
took her name from the song.
