BOOK CLUB HAS PARTY
The annual fall party of the
Wednesday Afternoon Book
club was held Friday evening.
An attractively lighted grove at
the country place of Mr. and
Mrs. T. D. Mason, Sr. was the
setting for this enjoyable affair, j
Mrs. A. P. Whipple, club pres
ident, and Mr. and Mrs. Mason
greeted the members and their
guests.
Included in the entertainment;
was a debate on, “Life Begins
At Forty,” in which Miss Mar- j
tha Cooper, Mrs. C. H. Tucker, !
Mr. G. E. Jordan, and Mr. F. M. j
Houser took part. Mrs. S. L. j
Norwood, Jr. conducted a quiz
and Miss Roselyn Paul directed
games which were played around
a bon fire.
A delicious barbecue supper
was served buffet style from
tables having harvest decora
tions,
Mrs. J. M. Gooden headed the
entertainment committee; Mrs.
C. E. Andrew, the refreshment:
and Mrs. G. E. Jordan, decora
tion.
There were forty attending.

afternoon at her home in honor
of Mrs. R. F. Boyd.

and marigolds formed the attrac
tive decorations.

taining were Mrs. W. B. Evans,
Mrs. K H. Roughton, and Mrs.
J. L. Gallemore.
Thirty guests were invited to
this delightful affair.

ginning at 11 a. m. and closing

P. Etheridge Sunday.

was the guest of Mrs. G. S. Riley
and Mrs. J. P. Etheridge Mon
day and Tuesday. Mrs. Smith
taught a mission study class at
the Baptist church on these after
noons.
