with a Mother-Daughter Tea
Tuesday afternoon at the home 1
of Mrs. George E. Jordan. Mrs
Charles T. Tillman of Quitman,
president of the Georgia Division J
U. D. €., was honor guest.
Forming the receiving line in 1
the drawing room were Mrs
Tillman, Miss Wilma Orr of Fort
Valley, secretary of the Ga. Di
vision U. D. C.; Mrs. H. T. Gil
bert, president, and Mrs. C. E.
Brunson, treasurer, of local
chapter.
Assisting in receiving were
Mrs. Jordan. Mrs. G. S. Riley,
Mrs. Alva Davis, Mrs. John
Hodges, Mrs. E. W. Traylor,
Mrs. H. P. Dobbins, Mrs. E. F.

a talk by Mrs. Tillman.
Mrs. H T. Gilbert welcomed
: the’“daughters” and other vis
, itors present, presented the past
presidents, and introduced the
speaker. Mrs. Tillman in a gra
■ cious and sincere manner invited
1 the young women present to join
the U. D. C. She discussed
briefly the historical,educational,
and beneficent work of the or
• ganization.
Other out of-town guests pres
ent were Mrs. Melrose Lamar,
district Essay chmn., Mrs. Chas.
Roundtree, president of Ft. Val
ley U. D. C. chapter, and Miss
Lamar, all of Fort Valley.
The Jordan home was artisti
cally decorated throughout with
spring flowers. The lace-cover
ed tea table was centered with a
silver tureen of red roses,flanked
Iby candelabra holding lighted
white tapers. The U. D. C.
colors, red and white, prevailed
in the menu served. The green
sun parlor was adorned with
white roses and shasta daisies.
Snapdragons, poppies, and roses
were used in other rooms.
Eighty guests were present at
this lovely affair.

Mr. Nunn sang two groups of
songs, classical and American,
accompanied by his mother on
the piano. Mrs. Nunn read sev
era! of her own poems.
Mrs. H. P. Houser, Mrs. F. M. !
Houser, and Mrs. Lewis Houser
went to Americas Tuesday to
visit Mrs. E. W. Vance of Eu
faula, Ala. who is seriously ill in
an Americus hospital. MrsWance
is the sister of Mrs. H.P. Houser
and a former resident of Perry.
