BOY SCOUT WEEK
The Hoy Scouts of America is
celebrating it s thirty-second
birthday Feb. 6-12. This is an
anniversary that the whole Na
tion could well celebrate-cele
brate with thanks in its heart
that such an organization exists.
The aim and purpose of Scout-,
ing—character and citizenship
are the aim and purpose of every
Democracy. Without these two
ideal qualities Democracy be
comes a sham a dictatorship.
America was wrested from a
wilderness by a determined
people people who had fine
character: people who under
stood tne responsibilities as well
as the privileges of citizenship.
Therefore it was only natural
that the ideals of the Scout
Movement as expressed in the
Scout Oath and Law,should meet
with widespread approval in this
country.
Scouting builds men; it de
velops citizenship. Scouting is
American it is as American as
Indian corn, as American as ice
cream sodas. Americans accept
Scouting because it is continually
strengthening and invigorating
democracy.
Kept Her Word
“But your wife said she’d forgive
and forget.”
"Yes. She's forgotten she’d for
give.”
At Present Rate
"When your son has completed
his studies what will he be?”
“Oh, about 78 years old, I should
think."
And Wave
“The average woman does not
use her head.”
“Oh, yes she does. She uses it
to display her hats.”

Quite often have we seen ’em—
Who catch a mess of fish, and then
Hate like the duce to clean ’em.

ugly word, Billy. Don’t bother me.”
FORECAST
“What do you think of the pres
ent business outlook?”
"From the way my wife is spend
ing money, it looks good.”
Noisy Ones
"I hate people who talk behind my
back.”
“So do I—especially at the pic-]
tures.”
King Talk
Judge—Do you challenge any of
the jury?
Defendant—Well, I think 1 can
lick that little guy on the end.
Expensive Man
Clarinda —I’se decided to leave
mah husband.
Liza—How come? Is yo’ beginnin’
to economize too?
Obeying Orders
"Hey, boy, what are you doing up
my pear tree?”
"Well, sir, there’s a notice below
which says ’Keep off the grass.’ ”
Can This Be?
"Do you think the women will get
there in time?”
"Sure; we’ll live to see signs read
ing, ‘Women wanted for the army.’ "
Shining Example
Fuddy—Did you ever notice that
successful men are generally bald?
Duddy—Certainly! They come out
on top.

Law of Gravity
If a person were to take two round
balls each five inches in diameter,
with one heavier than the other, and
dropped from the same elevation
under favorable weather conditions,
the two balls will strike the earth at
the same time since conditions were
fixed so the resistance was the
same on each. The earth's pull on
every small particle of like mass is
equal. The force on the heavier ball
is greater than on that of the lighter
ball but since the mass of the heav
ier ball is greater than that of the
lighter ball in the same proportions,
the accelerations on the two balls
will be equal, conscqunetly their
i relocities are equal.
