No. 9 coupons in “A” books
j valid Feb. 7, expire May 8.
Shoes
Stamp No 18 valid for one pair
of shoes for indefinite period.
Stamp I on “airplane” sheet in
Hook 3 valid for one pair indefi-;
nitely.
Meats and Fats
Brown Stamps V, W, and X
(Book 3) expire February 26.
Brown Y (Book 3) valid |
Feb. 13 expires March 20.
Red stamps A-8 through M-8
(Hook 4) (10 points each or a
total of 120 points) valid indefi
nitely to purchase pork from far
mers only. Not from retail
stores.
Processed Foods
Feb. I—-Green stamps K, L
and Min War Ration Book 4)
v lid thru Mch. 20. [
Feb. 27 The new blue stamps, j
to be used with ration tokens,
come into use. Between Febru
ary 27 when the blue stamps be
come valid and March 20 when
the old green stamps run out,
customers may use both sets of
stamps for a single purchase.
Tokens will be given in change
for both colors of stamps. Green
stamps will continue to have the
same point value as at present —
8,5, 2 and 1 points; the new blue
stamps will have a uniform point
value of ten.
Since the green stamps expire
long befor-' the blue, consumers
are advised to spend their green
stamps first. After March 20,
recessed loods will be bought
a ith blue stamps and blue tokens.
Tokens
The tokens, which will have a
point value of one each, will be
made of a synthetic fiber, slight
ly smaller than a dime and will
be colored red and blue corres
-1 ponding with the red and blue
stamps in Ration Hook 4. Each
token will have a narrow border
of yellow.
They will be used by consum
ers as change for red and blue
ration stamps, which even
though they are now numbered
8,5, 2, and 1, will later be given
a uniform value of ten points
each, according to OFA plans.
Here is how “token shopping”!
will work: A consumer buying
rationed foods will tear from
Book 4 one or more red or blue
stamps depending upon the ra
tioned value of the purchase and
will receive change in tokens,
similar to way coins are used for
change of dollar bills.
Thus, if a housewife bought a
one-pound can of peas valued at
16 blue points, she would give
the retailer two blue stamps
worth 10 points each (regardless
id their face value) and will re
ceive four ration tokens in
change. These four tokens
should then be treated as coins
and may be used at any time un
der the blue or red stamp pro
gram. Tokens will be valid in
definitely.
Consumers will not have to ap
ply to local boards for tokens as
they will be given in change by
local merchants.
Fuel Oil

rent heating year, and the oil ob
tained with these coupons wili

will be good for five pounds thru
March 31.
Sugar Stamp No. 40 in War
Ration Book 4 good for five lbs.
of sugar for home canning.
Stamp valid from February 1,
1944 to February 28, 1945.
