Fla. for several days recently.

Pvt. Emmett Cater of Fort
Jackson, S. C. spent several days
last week with his grandmother,
Mrs. R. L: Cater.
Mr. T. C. Rogers and his sis
ter, Miss Nell Rogers, attended
the funeral of their aunt, Mrs.
Lucy Rogers Runion, in Ameri
cus [Monday. Mrs. Runion died
at her home in Atlanta after a
long illness.
Lt. and Mrs. J. E. Robinson
announce the birth of a daugh
ter, Gail, on Saturday, Sept.
2, in Middle Ga. Hospital, Ma
con. Mrs. Robinson was Miss
Betty Jones and is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Cooper Jones of
Perry.
Mr. P. M. Beckham is able to
be out after an illnes of several
weeks.
Mrs. J.T. Cauthon, Mrs. W.M.
Baker,and Miss Julia Williamson
spent the weekend at Jackson
ville Beach, Fla.
Friends will regret to learn of
the illness of Mrs. T. W. Hentz.
Mrs. W. K. Whipple, Miss
Barbara Whipple, and Wendell
Whipple Jr. spent Friday in At- j
lanta.
Miss Betty Gooden has return-{
ed from Camp Kiniya near Bar- j
lington, Vermont where she was !
a counselor for two months. Miss
Gooden spent a week in New
York City before returning home

art, Fla. were guests of Rev. and

to Jackson, Ga. to teach in the

Mrs. Marvin W. Griffin has re
ceived word that her husband
has been made Petty Officer in
the U. S. Navy. He is stationed
in New Guinea.
George B. Wells Jr. is recover
ing from a tonsilectomy he un
derwent Friday.
Mrs. D. W. Bledsoe and sons
Lewis, Billy, and Charles, spent
last week in Rockmart, Ga. with
relatives. Lewis and Billy Bled
soe visited in Atlanta several
days this week.
Mrs. W. J. Braddock is visit
ing relatives in Gibson this week.
Miss Eva Borom has gone to
Dublin, Ga. where she is teach
ing in the schools.
Mr. Allen Whipple entered the
college department of Gordon
College, Barnesville, Monday.
He graduated from the high
school department in June.

Ga. College,Dahlonega, is spend
ing this week with his parents,

her granddaughters, Libby and
Katharine Davis, to their home
after a visit here.

present at this affair.

ins Air Service Command has
beenpromoted to clerk-typist. Miss
Hardy graduated from Perry
High school in June and her
work at Robins Field is her first
jcb. She was accepted for train
ing at Robins Field June 10, 1944
and is assigned to the supply di
vision.

Whitten of Perry. He received
his wings at Pensacola. Fla., ano
finished his operational training
in dive bombers at Jacksonville.
He is assigned to the South Pa
cific area.

After the groom's leave is
over, the bride will make her

METHODIST I P. ACTIVITIES
The young people of the Meth
'odist Church League have been
planning a busy yea*. Plans foi
a recreation room in the base
ment of the church are now un
der way. Monday evening a
group of girls served at a ban
quet given for the Perry dealers
by the Fort Valley Coca Cola
Company. The girls not only en
joyed this, but earned a sum of
money for the league which will
be used in helping to equip the
recreation room.
The young people are asking
for donations either of games,
card tables, or money. If you
wish to contribute, please con
tact Jean Pierce, phone 28. The

would like to look after children
after school or evenings. A por
