PERSONAL MENTION | Mrs. W. J. Braddock, Mrs. C.' jj. Ray and daughter, Nita, Mrs. \V. J. Foy and baby son, Billy, have returned from a visit to relatives in Greenfield, Mass., Binghampton, N. Y., and Endi cott, N. Y. Mrs. Lawrence Gray and daughter, Miss Laurel Dean Gray, of Macon were guests of Mr. and Mrs. T, C. Rogers for the weekend. Mrs. Mildred Evans Schnell was the guest of Lt. (j.g.) and Mrs. A. M. Anderson in Miami, Fla. for several days recently. Billie Davis was the recipient of a number of social courtesies last week when she was the guest of Ann Acree in Macon. Pvt. Emmett Cater of Fort Jackson, S. C. spent several days last week with his grandmother, Mrs. R. L: Cater. Mr. T. C. Rogers and his sis ter, Miss Nell Rogers, attended the funeral of their aunt, Mrs. Lucy Rogers Runion, in Ameri cus [Monday. Mrs. Runion died at her home in Atlanta after a long illness. Lt. and Mrs. J. E. Robinson announce the birth of a daugh ter, Gail, on Saturday, Sept. 2, in Middle Ga. Hospital, Ma con. Mrs. Robinson was Miss Betty Jones and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cooper Jones of Perry. Mr. P. M. Beckham is able to be out after an illnes of several weeks. Mrs. J.T. Cauthon, Mrs. W.M. Baker,and Miss Julia Williamson spent the weekend at Jackson ville Beach, Fla. Friends will regret to learn of the illness of Mrs. T. W. Hentz. Mrs. W. K. Whipple, Miss Barbara Whipple, and Wendell Whipple Jr. spent Friday in At- j lanta. Miss Betty Gooden has return-{ ed from Camp Kiniya near Bar- j lington, Vermont where she was ! a counselor for two months. Miss Gooden spent a week in New York City before returning home Friday. Mrs. Roy Sampley and chil dren, Paul and Annelle, of Stu art, Fla. were guests of Rev. and Mrs. J. E. Sampley for the weekend. Miss Pauline Lee of Lumpkin, 1 Ga. is visiting her sister, Mrs. | Carey B. Andrew Jr. | Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Gooden and Miss Betty Gooden visited rela tives in Leslie, Ga. several days this week. Mrs. G. C. Nunn was guest speaker at the Warner Robins Methodist Church school Sunday morning. Mr. C. P. Gray was the speak er at the Henderson Methodist church services Sunday morning. Mrs. S. P. Houser spent sev eral days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Borders near Fort Valley. Miss Marion Grubb has gone to Jackson, Ga. to teach in the high school there. . Mr. and Mrs. George Hardy and Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Hardy and son spent last Thursday in Atlanta. Mr. and Mrs. George Hardy had as their guests for the week end Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Spil lers of Macon. Mrs. Marvin Griffin and sons joined them for Sunday dinner. Mr. and Mrs. M. L. McDaniel of Macon visited their daughter, Mrs. J. C. Hardy Jr., Mr. Hardy and William for the weekend. Mrs. Marvin W. Griffin has re ceived word that her husband has been made Petty Officer in the U. S. Navy. He is stationed in New Guinea. George B. Wells Jr. is recover ing from a tonsilectomy he un derwent Friday. Mrs. D. W. Bledsoe and sons Lewis, Billy, and Charles, spent last week in Rockmart, Ga. with relatives. Lewis and Billy Bled soe visited in Atlanta several days this week. Mrs. W. J. Braddock is visit ing relatives in Gibson this week. Miss Eva Borom has gone to Dublin, Ga. where she is teach ing in the schools. Mr. Allen Whipple entered the college department of Gordon College, Barnesville, Monday. He graduated from the high school department in June. Pvt. Billy Ethridge of North Ga. College,Dahlonega, is spend ing this week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Ethridge.' Mr. and Mrs. G. P. Hunnicutt and daughters, Meredyth, Mer ry!, and George Marilyn, will go to Central, Ala. today (Thurs.) to visit relatives for several days. Mr. Earl Marshall will enter G. M. C. at Milledgeville next week. Miss Jane Riley and Miss Mon tine Harrison will leave Monday for Cuthbert, Ga. where they will enter Andrew College. Miss Marion Ellis of Grovania will re sume her studies at Andrew Col lege next week. Mr. and Mrs. Peyton Skellie of Elkton, Va. were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Skellie last week. Mrs. J. N. Buff Jr. is visiting relatives in Reynolds, Ga. this week. Mr. J. B. Calhoun Jr. and son, John Blue Calhoun 111, vis ited relatives in Laurel Hill, N. C. recently. Mrs. Joe Roper and son, Joel, and Mrs. P. M. Satterfield and children, June and Mack, visited relatives in Roanoke, Ala. several days last week. Mrs. Cinderella Cooper Mullis and daughter, Marlene, went to Milledgeville, Ga, this week to make their home, Mrs. Mullis has a position with Ga. State College for Women. Mrs. C. E. Brunson left Wed nesday for Miami, Fla. to take her granddaughters, Libby and Katharine Davis, to their home after a visit here. Mrs. Mildred Evans Schnell and Mrs. Horace E. Evans Jr. were hostesses at a delightful morning party Monday at the home of the former. A variety of lovely flowers was used in decorating. Forty guests were present at this affair. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Ragan hon ored her brother, Laidler Bran nen, U. S. Navy Pacific Fleet, at dinner recently. Other guests were Montine Harrison, Perry, Mr. and Mrs. Levi Cal houn, Hawkinsville, Ga.; Mr.and Mrs. C. B. Brannen and family, Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Brannen and family, Mr. and Mrs. James Dennard, Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Ransom, and Mr. and Mrs. Ham ilton Brannen and family of Unadilla. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Ragan and children, Billy and Jerry, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton Brannen Sunday at a barbecue at their home in Unadilla. Laid ler H. Brannen, brother of Mrs. Brannen, was honor guest. Miss Ruth Hardy, Perry, Ga., a war worker with Warner Rob ins Air Service Command has beenpromoted to clerk-typist. Miss Hardy graduated from Perry High school in June and her work at Robins Field is her first jcb. She was accepted for train ing at Robins Field June 10, 1944 and is assigned to the supply di vision. Lieutenant Stembridge is the j son of Mrs. Nohie Stembridge •of Perry and has two brothers and two sisters, Pfc. Neal Stem bridge, USAAC, of Pueblo, Colo, and Horace Stembridge, Miss Margie Stembridge and Mrs. Ida Whitten of Perry. He received his wings at Pensacola. Fla., ano finished his operational training in dive bombers at Jacksonville. He is assigned to the South Pa cific area. Attending the ceremony were the bride’s mother, A. Chute, and Mrs. W. P. West. After the groom's leave is over, the bride will make her 1 home in Macon. . METHODIST I P. ACTIVITIES The young people of the Meth 'odist Church League have been planning a busy yea*. Plans foi a recreation room in the base ment of the church are now un der way. Monday evening a group of girls served at a ban quet given for the Perry dealers by the Fort Valley Coca Cola Company. The girls not only en joyed this, but earned a sum of money for the league which will be used in helping to equip the recreation room. The young people are asking for donations either of games, card tables, or money. If you wish to contribute, please con tact Jean Pierce, phone 28.
