I f KITTY DISAPPEARS
Mrs. Jones was perturbed to find
that the three pounds of meat she
had bought had disappeared. Her
husband, helping in the search, no
ticed what he took to be a guilty
look on the family cat’s face, and
pointed to her and said, “There’s
your meat.”
“Why, no,” objected Mrs. Jones,
“that little thing couldn’t get away
with all that meat.”
“Well, let’s weigh her and see,”
suggested the husband.
They did so. The scales regis
tered exactly three pounds.
“Yes,” admitted Mrs. Jones,
“there’s the meat all right, but
where is the cat?”

FARM BUREAU TO SET
UP WOMEN’S GROUP
Georgia farm women will have
an organization known as the
Associated Women of the Farm
Bureau according to plans made
■by the directors of the Georgia
Farm Bureau at its quarterly
meeting in Macon last week.
I The move to invite women into
! the organization was started at a
previous meeting by Director W.
I L. Miller of Lakeland who point- ,
ed out that women were taking
«] a leading part in public affairs
and that their cooperation would!
be invaluable to organize agri
culture.
After the meeting Wednesday
the directors voted to invite Mrs.
Charles W. Sewell, Administra
tive Director of the Associated
Women of American Farm Bu
reau Federation of Chicago to
attend the annual convention in
Macon November 8 and 9 and
meet with farm women to per
fect such an organization.
Several requests have come in
from prominent farm women
from over the state pointing out
the opportunities that such an
organization would give. Presi-!
dent H. L. Wingate of the Geor
gia Farm Bureau stated that
each county chapter would be
urged to bring a delegation of
women to the Macon meeting.
To be eligible for membership in
the Associated Women a woman
must belong to a family holding
a family membership in the
Farm Bureau.
Organization Director Herbert
E. Woodruff reported a current
membership in the Farm Bureau
of approximately 19,000 as com
! pared to 7,500 the previous year.
President Wingate reported on
| recent legislation to increase the
price of cotton and pointed out
that there was some delay in
making this effective due to de
lays of the OPA in making the
necessary adjustments. The di
rectors insisted that this law be
enforced immediately.
| Vice-president Floyd H. Tabor
announced an award to be given
I to the county with the most out
standing program of county ac-i
tivities of the local Farm Bureau!
Chapter.
