Newspaper Page TextPERSONAL MENTION Mrs. James L. Hudson and baby son. Billy, have returned after a month’s visit with Pvt. James L. Hudson, at Camp Rey nolds, Pa. and Greenville, Pa. Pvt. Hudson has been transferr ed back to Camp Barkely, Texas for advanced training. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Moody and daughter, Gail, of Fort Val ley, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Armstrong. Officer Candidate H. E, Evans of Fort Benning, Ga. was at home for the weekend. Captain Magill Foster, U. S. Army Medical Corps, Camp Barkley, Texas and Mrs. Foster were guests of his mother, Mrs. A. I. Foster, last week. Mr. David Crockett has re ceived an honorable discharge from the U. S. Army and has re turned to Perry to make his home. West Holtzclaw of Macon vis ited his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Eby Holtzclaw, last week, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. West Holtz claw of Macon spent Sunday here. Mr. Harry Palmer of Ocala, Fla. spent the weekend here. The high school group of Le gionnaire’s children had a party at the Legion Home Friday night. Chaperones were Mrs. Tom Cater and Mrs. B. H. An drew Jr. Mrs. Robert Crenshaw and daughter, Joy, spent last week in Macon with relatives. Mrs. A. N. Pierce has return ed to her home in Lake Charles, La. after a visit with her sister, Mrs, A. S. Gossett. Mrs. Sam Borom and son, Robert, of Butler, Ga. and Miss Eva Borom of Dublin, Ga. were guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Roberts for the weekend. Miss Marion Grubb came home from Jackson, Ga. for the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Culma Harris and daughter, Patsy, spent Sun day in Cordele. Mrs. Thomas Pardue and son, Stephen, of Warner Robins were guests of Mrs. A. P. Whipple Friday and Saturday. Cadet S. Sgt. Allen R. Whip ple, student of Gordon College, was at home for the weekend. Officer Candidate Carl Riggs of Fort Benning spent the week end here with his wife in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Armstrong. Pvt. Verner Lee Lasseter of Thomasville, Ga. Army Air Base, is at home on furlough. Dr. and Mrs. J, M. Martin of Augusta, Ga. announce the birth of a daughter, Elise Madeline,on Oct. 8. Dr. Martin is a former resident of Perry and basketball star of Perry High school. Mrs. Lizzie Abbott of Macon spent Sunday with her sister, Mrs. Homer Chapman, and family. Corp. Bernard Holleman has returned to Las Vegas, Mexico after a visit with his sister, Mrs. Cecil Moody, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Holleman, in Macon. Pvt. Emmett Cater of Fort Jackson, S. C. spent the week end with his grandmother, Mrs. R. L. Cater. Phil and Lavonia Hudson spent the weekend in Atlanta, Ga. with Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hudson to attend the Southeast-1 ern Fair. Ensign Colquitt Brantley, U. S. Navy, and Mrs. Brantley are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Grubb, and his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Mc- Craven. Ensign Brantley has been transferred from Corpus Christi, Texas to Jacksonville, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Lowry of Hickory, N. C. spent Sunday and Monday here with friends. Mrs, J. L. Riley of Uniontowm, Pa. who is visiting her mother, Mrs, N. C. Wellons, in Perry at tended the wedding of her niece, Miss Shelly Wallace of New York City formerly of Perry, to Cpl. John G. Lert of Baltimore, Md. on Sunday, Oct, 1, at the Fort McPherson chapel, Atlanta. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. J. V. Wallace of Atlanta. A recep tion was given after the wedding at the home of the bride’s sis ter, Mrs. J. G. Burch, in At lanta. Other out-of-town guests included Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Wallace and son, Bobby, and Mrs. E. C. Leverett of Warner Robins; Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Wal lace Jr. of Macon. Mr. and Mrs. Joe and daughter, Linda, of Fort Valley spent Sunday with Mrs. S. P. Houser. VISITORS HONORED Captain and Mrs, Magill Fost er of Camp Barkley, Texas, were the inspiration of several parties during their visit here with his mother, Mrs. A. I. Mrs. Allen C. Pritchett were hosts at a dinner party at the New Perry hotel for the Fosters. The Hallowe’en idea was effec tively carried out in the decora tions. Covers were laid for twenty-eight. Sunday afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. M. Beckham had open house from 4 to 5:30 o’clock. 100 guests called to greet Capt, Fost er and Mrs. Foster.
