INFANT CHRISTENED
Little Sandra Elizabeth Har
vey, eleven months old daughter
of Flight Lieutenant and Mrs. E.
R. Harvey, was christened
Thursday afternoon at the home
of her paternal grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Lewis of
Eko. The ceremony was con
ducted by the Reverend Gordon
King.
The baby was dressed in a j
white batiste dress which was
embroidered and smocked in del- 1
icate pink with a hair ribbon to
match. A christening veil of
real lace and net was used. The
j veil was sent from England by
the baby’s grandmother, Mrs. D.
• vl Harvey, and was used for
1 Sandra’s daddy’s christening
twenty-three years ago.
Flight Lieutenant Harvey, of
the R, A. F., was sent back to
England nineteen months ago.
Mrs. Harvey is the former Miss
Mary Lewis of Elko.
After the ceremony, refresh
ments were served to the friends
and relatives attending the
Baptism.

The bride is the daughter of

late Mr. Jones. Her maternal
(grandparents are Mrs. Hardie
I Brown Anderson of Hawkinsville
and the late Mr, Anderson. Her
paternal grandparents are Mrs.
VV. H. Jones Sr. of Cochran and!
the late Mr. Jones. Her sister
is Miss Betty Lane Jones of Haw
kinsville.
Mr. Cater is the son of Mrs.
Louise Willis Cater of Macon and
the late Dr. Robert Cater. He is
the grandson of Mrs. Stella Dun
can Cater and the late Dr. R. L.
Cater of Perry. His sister is
Mrs, Harrold Beatty of Macon.
The bride will remain at her
home in Hawkinsville while he
is in the service.

the home of the Rev. J. A. Ivey,

Imock is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
F. L. Hammock, of Kathleen.
COMMUNITY CONTEST
More than 7,000 Georgians en
tered the $5,200 letter-writing
contest on “Five Ways to Make
My Community Better,” it was
announced to-day by the Georgia
Power Company. The final count,
just completed, showed that 7,-
121 entries were received from
138 Georgia counties.
Since the close of the contest
on October 31, the work of classi
fying the enties by counties has
been proceeding as rapidly as
the large number of entries per
mitted. The letters from each
county will be sent immediately
to the respective county judges
whose names have bee n an
nounced.
Of the 7,121 entries, 1,429 were
received from adults and 5,692
from boys and girls under 18.
Diabetics Get Special Ice Cream
A new ice cream for diabetics has
been produced at the University of
Illinois, containing about 40 per cent
as much sugar as the standard prod
uct. Scientists at the institute sub
-1 stituted a mixture principally of
milk proteins for the glycerine used
previously in efforts to freeze a low
sugar ice cream. One out of each
260 persons in the United States is
diabetic, the scientists say.
