The Grammar School contribut
ed materials for filling Christmas
I boxes to be sent overseas to
j children in the war stricken
i areas.
: During Christmas the Junior
, Red Cross was busy as usual —
I spending their spare time trying
| to make Christmas a little bright
ier for someone alse. They filled
i thirty-five gift boxes containing
1 candy, salted nuts, cigarettes,
fruit cake, and chewing gum.
In each box an especially nice
gift was included. Among these
were shaving sets, books, and
razors. These were distributed
to the soldiers in hospitals at
Camp Wheeler, Warner Robins
and Cochran Field. In addition
to these gift boxes, fifty tray fa-1
vors were made, nuts, pine!
cones, and holly were brought to
be sent to these same hospitals
for decoration.
The Home Economics Classes
under the direction of Miss Juli
ette McKinley have been es
pecially active. Tney have made
forty-five squares for afghans to
be distributed by the Red Cross.
January and February are the
months in which we stress
“Health of Mind and Body.” To
■ achieve this the Home Economics
Classes have taken up a course
in nutrition. They have made
attractive posters and put them
on display on the bulletin boards!
in the halls.
The school campus and th ej
grounds around the gym and ag
riculture building have been di
vided into areas among the
grades of the school. Each
1 grade is responsible for keeping
his portion free from refuse.
! Much interest has been shown in
! this project by all the students
1 and the general appearance ofi
iof grounds and buildings have
been greatly improved.
These projects were planned
, and directed by a council con

land a student representative
! from each class. Betty Boler is

Joyce Andrew is secretary.
