Lt. (j.g.) Arthur Hendrix, U.
S. Navy Reserve, Mrs. Hendrix
and their daughter, Marcia,were
guests of their mother, Mrs. T.
L. Hendrix, and grandmother,
Mrs. J. H. Hodges, for the
weekend. They were enroute
from Lakeland, Fla. to Annapo
lis, Md. where Lt. Hendrix is an
instructor at the Naval Academy.
Mr. Thomas D. Mason Jr. re
ceived an honorable discharge
Sept. 27 from the U. S. Armv
in which he served several
months as a private in the Ar
tillery, stationed at Fort Sill,
Okla.
Mr. and Mrs. L. Gardner Wat
son and daughter, Martha Lynn,
have an apartment in the home
of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Jordan.
Mr. Watson received an honor
able discharge from the U. S.
Army last week. He had the
rank of sergeant and was sta-l
tioned at the Army Ordnance
Depot, Atlanta, Ga. Mr. Wat
son is a member of the firm of
Watson and Whipple, funeral di
rectors and florists, and will be
active in his business from
now on.

HONOREE OF PARTIES
Mrs. Wesley Bolin of Phoenix,
Arizona who is the guest of her
sister, Mrs. F. M. Houser, has
been the honoree of several so
cial affairs.
Mrs. Sam Nunn was hostess at
a luncheon Wednesday, Sept, 26,
at the New Perry Hotel. The
ten guests were neighbors of the
hostess.
Friday, Mrs. Houser gave an
informal morning party for her
sister. Thirty guests were pres
ent at this delightful affair.
Saturday, Mrs. Cater Rogers
honored Mrs. Bolin and her
mother, Mrs. T. W. Hentz who
has recently returned to Perry
after being away for several
months, with a luncheon at her
home. Only members of the
families were present.
Sunday at noon, Miss Louise
Houser and her sister, -Mrs.
Henry Holcombe, entertained
Mr. and Mrs. Houser, Mrs. Bo
lin, and Mr. and Mrs. M. L.

Perry hotel.

a barbecue given by Mr. and 1
Mrs. G. C. Nunn in their garden
for members of their family.

was hostess at a luncheon at the :
Colonade in Macon for Mrs.Bolin.
Guests were Mrs. Perry Cope
land and Mrs. Cubbedge Snow of
Macon, Mrs. J. L. Gallemore,
Mrs. Mayo Davis, Mrs. Houser,
and Mrs. Bolin.
Wednesday, Mrs. J.L.Beavers,
Mis. J. M. Gooden, and Mrs. A. I
P. Whipple were co-hostesses at
a luncheon at the New Perry
hotel.
Thursday, Mrs. G. E. Jordan
will have a luncheon at her home

GREEN ACRES CONTEST
RULES
1. Prizes will be awarded based on the farms having largest percentage of their tilled kadi., m
winter cover crops.
2. Every farmer in the county who plants winter cover crops is automatically eligible to cmbp
pete for the prizes offered. It is not necessary to sign up to enter this contest.
3. Only cover crop practices qualifying for A. A. A. payments will be accepted.
4. Fifty per cent of the winter cover crop acreage must be winter legumes, consisting «»f
Austrian winter peas, vetch, crimson clover, or blue lupine. Acreage to small grais aad
winter legume mixtures will count one-half in figuring acreage of winter legumes and «xa~
half in figuring acreage of small grains.
5. Satisfactory growth meeting A. A. A. standards must be obtained.
6. A. A. A. measurements of the fields will be the standard for determining acreage.
7. In case of a tie, green weighLcuttings will be made to determine the winner.
8. Only complete farm units will be considered. Farms of less than 25 acres will not be accfcftariL
