the birth of a son on Friday,
Dec. 28, which was their first
wedding anniversary. Lt. Hous
er, pilot of the U. S. Army Air
Corps, is stationed in Japan at
present. Mrs. Houser was Miss
Ann Matthews and is the daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Matth
ews of Fort Valley. The baby is
the first grandson of the pater
nal grandmother, Mrs. Sam P.
Houser, and the first great
grandson of Mrs. J. H. Hodges,
both of Perry, The baby has
been named John H. Houser Jr.
Mrs. A. P. Whipple and son,
Derryl, spent Dec. 25 in Cochran
with her mother. Mrs. JohnTay-i
lor. Mrs. Whipple visited her
son, HA 1c Allen Whipple, at
Parris Island, S. C, several days
last week. Allen returned to
Perry with his mother Sunday
and spent several days.

HOLIDAY PARTIES
The young people of Perry had
srveral parties at the American
Legion Home last week. There
was an Open House the night of
Dec. 25th with Mr. and Mrs. W.
E. Marshall Jr. as chaperones.
On Dec. 26, the grade mothers |
of the Junior class of P. H. S.
gave the Juniors a party.
On Dec. 27, the senior class of
P. H. S. had a parly with Mr.
and Mrs. E. P. Staples, Mrs. S.
L. Norwood, and Mrs. J.O. Cole
man as chaperones.
On Friday night (Dec. 28) the
high school group of Legion
naire’s children had a dance.
Chaperones were Mrs. J. B.
Calhoun, Mrs. Henry Mathews,
and Mrs. W. G. Ethridge.
The college and business group
of Legionnaire’s children had a
dance Saturday night. Mrs. J.
M. Gooden, Mrs. D. M. Ryle,
Mrs Joe Mitchell, and Mrs. W.
E. Marshall Jr. were chaperones.
Mrs. John Williamson and son,
John Thomas, visited relatives in
Oglethorpe, Ga. during the
holidays.

to Birmingham, Ala. Dec. 24 on
account of the death of his
brother.

from the U. S. Army Air Corps
in which he was a pilot. He
served overseas several months

tre and was in the service for
years. His awards include the

ter, four Battle Stars, the Asiatic
Pacific and the Philippine Libera
tion ribbons,and the Distinguish
