Congfessman Stephen Pace’s
comments on the advantages a
vailahle under this program were
carried in last week’s issue ol
The Home Journal. He calls at- ;
tenlion to the simple fact that
crop insurance is a service which
has been enjoyed by other groups
lor many years and is now being
offered to the farmer for the first
time.
Houston County, one of only 20
counties in the U. S. to be offer
ed the service, is to be a proving
ground. The cooperation of the
farmers will be the determining!
factor in the success or failure of
the program.
Three leading business estab
lishments in Perry -George C.
Nunn and Son, Davis Warehouse,
Co., and the Perry Loan and
Savings Bank have examined
the provisions of the plan care
fully and recommend it to the
farmers of the county.
The Home Journal believes the
program will bring a greater de
gree of stability for the farmer,
whose fortunes always rise and
fall with the weather, which he
cannot control.

Robins Field
Will Remain
A. M. (Phil) Anderson and
Mayo Davis represented Perry
and Houston County organiza
tions as members of a delegation
! which called on Georgia congress
■ men last week to obtain assur
ance that Robins Field would be
a permanent installation.
At the same time the delega
tion of Perry, Macon and Warner
Robins representatives was in
Washington, various city and
i county organizations wired the
congressmen to state their posi
tions with regard to Warner Rob
ins.
The delegation announced that
it was assured that the field
would be maintained as a per
manent installation with about
1 3,700 employees. New work al
ready is being sent there.
Meanwhile, a Warner Robins
steering committee went ahead
j with plans to convert a Govern
ment owned building there into a
City-County hospital.
Perry men appointed to a ten
i tative Board of Governors are

COURT OPENS APRIL 1
The Civil Term of Houston Su
perior Court will open in Perry
April 1. The Criminal Term will
oneri on April 8. Sheriff G. C.
Chapman is issuing the call for
the jurors selected.
Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Rhodes of
Des Moines. lowa, former resi
dents of T’er.’y, are visiting
friends in Perry.

Robert Jordan, Jr.
Receives Discharge
Dr. J. Robert Jordan, Jr., son 1
of Dr. and Mrs. J. Robert Jor
dan, Sr., of Perry, is on termi-,
nal leave after serving three
years in the U. S. Navy and has
begun the practice of dentistry in
Atlanta.
Dr. Jordan wa s graduated
from Emory University and the
Atlanta Southern Dental College
and was a member of the facul
ty at the dental school following
his graduation. He entered the
service in 1942 and went to Pearl
Harbor in June, 1945. He re
turned to the states in Febru
ary. He has become a Lieuten
ant in the Navy.
He is now associated with Dr.
Witherspoon Wallace in Atlanta.
Dr, Jordan’s wife, the former
Miss Catharine Etheridge, is the
daughter of Judge Paul Ether
idge of Atlanta, and they have a
six-months-old daughter, Estelle
Etheridge.
