Companion Trees
Since apple trees depend upon
“companion” or pollinator vari
ties for good pollination, the trees
of any one variety should not be
planted in large solid blocks. Where j
such blocks are established, grafting
and the use of bouquets from suit- j
able trees at blossoming time, are
suggesed as temporary remedial
measures.

IN MEMORISM
In memory of J. D. Stem
bridge. Jr., of Centerville, who
was killed in action Sept. 16,1944.
When he left us he was just
a boy
To join the Army ranks
To go wherever man would lead
Over rough and stormy banks.
He left he didn’t say—goodbye
But said he’d soon be back
When all this strife and end
less war
Would he a thing of only
“past.”
We didn’t like to see him go
He was our son and brother
But duty called and go he did
To join the ranks with others.
We do not understand the
“why”—
That he will never return
|To fill the empty place there is
In our hearts that burn.
We know that God understands
We know His way is best
We ask that lb- will give to him
His own eternal rest,
! We ask that He will give to us
His healing and His balm
And may we ever, always say
“Oh” Lord thy will be done.
His mother,
Mrs. J. D. Stembridge, Sr.
