Miss Frances Foster Becomes Bride
Of Mr. Stickney in Brilliant Ceremony
The wedding of Miss Frances
Imogene Foster and Mr. Fernald
Stickney of Caldwell, New Jer
sey was a lovely event taking
place at five o’clock Tuesday af
ternoon, April 30, at the Perry
Baptist church with Rev. J. A.
Ivey, pastor, officiating.
Before a background of smi
lax. palms, and ferns, baskets of
Easter lilies and seven branched
candlelabra holding white light
ed tapers were arranged to form
the beautiful setting for the
nuptials.
Preceding the double ring cere
mony, Mrs. Mayo Davis, organ
ist, rendered two numbers, Mas
senet’s “Meditation” from Thais
and “Sweet Evening Star” by
Wagner. Francis Nunn sang
“God Touched the Rose” by
Brown, and “I Love Thee” by
Grieg.
Lohengrin’s Wedding March
was used for the processional and
Mendelssohn’s as the recessional.
During the ceremony, “To a
vVild Rose” was played by Mrs.
Davis.

her sister, Mrs. Ivan Magill
Foster, who was matron of hon
or. Mrs. Foster’s dress was of
pink marquisette made with fit
ted bodice, puffed sleeves, and
bouffant skirt. The sweetheart
neck was adorned with bows of
irridescent beads and her halo
hat of the same material as her
dress was trimmed with similar
beads. Her flowers were a bou
quet of pink roses and carna
tions showered with sweetpeas.
The biide entered with her
uncle, T. I. Magill of Lenoir, N.
C. who gave her in marriage.
They were met at the altar by
the groom and his brother, Theo
dore A. Stickney, of Little Falls,
N, J., who was best man.
The blond beauty of the petite
bride was enhanced by her wed
ding dress oi white duchess sat
in, fashioned with long fitted
bodice, gathered skirt, short
sleeves, and sweetheart neck, 1
which was self-trimmed. Thei
bride’s circular veil of net was:
attached to her hair with a halo
style cap trimmed with seed 1
pearls. Her only ornament wasp
a strand of pearls, a gift from;
the groom. Her bouquet was of],
bride’s roses centered with or-1]
chids and showered with swan-;,
sonia. j,
The bride carried a lace hand-!
kerchief which was brought from ,
Paris following World War I by
her late father, Ur. Arthur I. ,
Foster, who was a chaplain in
that war. (
The bride’s mother, Mrs. Ar
thur I. Foster, wore a black chif
fon dress with hat of black braid :
trimmed with lalfeta bows. Her 1
corsage was of spray orchids.
The bride’s aunt, Mrs. T. I. ;
Magill of Lenoir, N. G. w a s
gowned in a cerise sheer with,
matching accessories and hen
corsage was of white roses.
Wedding Reception
Immediately following the
ceremony, a reception was held

A green and w’hite color motif

in the ice course featuring frozen
Easter lily cream.
A variety of flowers in pastel
shades was artistically arranged
■throughout the home.
During the evening, the couple'
I left on their wedding trip, The
i bride’s traveling outfit was a
i pear! grey suit of wool crepe
with ulack accessories. She wore
a corsage of orchids.
After a motor trip south, Mr.
and Mrs. Stickney will visit her
mother, Mrs. Foster, before go-j
ing on a trip to the mountains of!
North Carolina and from there,
to their home in Caldwell, N. J. j
Pre-Nuptial Parties
: The rehearsal party for this
couple was given by Mr. and
Mrs. G. C. Nunn and Mr. and
Mrs. Geo. Francis Nunn at the
home of the former Monday
evening following the reheaiaal.
A green-gold color scheme was
] carried out in the decorations
;and refreshments. Roses and
[snapdragons formed the central
decoration of the dining table.
The 85 guests included mem
bers of the wedding party and
! their husbands and wives. As

Rose Mary, at Dr. Gallemore’s
Clinic on Monday, April 22.
Mr. and Mrs. Hal Gilbert and
children visited Mrs, H. T. Gil
bert here last weekend. The Hal
Gilberts are moving from Abbe
ville, S. C., to Athens, Ga., where
Mr. Gilbert has accepted a posi
tion with a textile company.
Mrs. 0. T. Gower of Cordle,
mother of Mrs. L, H. Gilbert of
Perry, is a patient at the Middle
Georgia hospital in Macon.
Mrs. J. A. Ivey and daughter,
Ann, visited relatives at Mil
ledgeville last week.
Mrs. Irene Eden is visiting Mr.
and Mrs. H. N. Gilbert in At
lanta this week.
Sergeant Emmette Cater has
received an honorable discharge
from the Army Air Forces and
has returned to Perry to live
He has accepted a position with
Perry Furniture Co.
First Lt. John H. Houser, now
on terminal leave from the Army
Air Forces, has accepted a posi
tion with Tolleson Lumber Co.
He and Mrs. Houser will make
their home here.
Miss June Jones of Thomaston
is visiting Miss Meredythe Hun
nicutt at her home here.
Pvt. Bobbie B. Boyd, son of
A. D. Boyd, Route 2, Perry, has
completed his basic training and
is being assigned to occupation
troops.
Mrs. W. T. Hill has retuned
after a visit in Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Etheridge,
Jr., of Tampa, Fla., spent Sun
day and Monday here with Mr.
and Mrs. J. P. Etheridge en
route to Cambridge, Mass, when
they will attend a reunion of thi

According to a new law in regard to a person
being qualified to vote for the 1946 election, it
seems that every voter whose name was not on
the qualified voter’s list for the November elec
tion of 1944 will necessarily have to register again
by or before July 5, 1946.
