Why Walter McDonald
ShouM Be Retired
Fron*Jtate Office *
The public lias shown much con
sideration for Mr. McDonald during
the 23 years he has been in office
—all 100 long.
During this time he has drawn
approximately $100,000.00.
It Is known throughout the state
that Mr. McDonald dominates the
Public Service Commission. Obvi
ously, one-man control of a Depart
ment leads to dictatorship.
Tom Durant, Candidate for
Public Service Commission ,
He, therefore. Is responsible tor
the "conference method" of rate ad
lustmcnts behind his closed door.
The people are entitled to be heard j
on rate matters aud to Know what !
Is going on. The lour years 1 spent
In the armed forces iu the recent
war were for a better purpose than
conferences behind closed doors to
reach agreements on rate adjust- j
ments.
His agreement with an official of 1
the Georgia Power and Light Com
pany to send the Commission’s
engineers to make a sirvey and
examine the books of certain Rural
Electrification Co-ops for the obvi
ous reason of defeating their plan
to expand electric service In the
rural sections of Georgia is bitterly
resented by people la need of elec
tric service.
Some years ago Mr. McDonald re
quired all the railroads and all
buses operating In Georgia to fur*
ntsb him with annual passes, which
he used until he was exposed. Am
ple funds were provided by the
Legislature for all legitimate travel
log expenses. * _ t _. ...
