Slappey of Perry left last week for Starksville, Miss., where she will visit her niece, Mrs. Evans Wardlaw, for several days, Mr, and Mrs. John Carney have purchased the home in the Smoak Subdivision formerly occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Drew Harris, The Carneys have already moved in. Mr. and Mrs. Harris have moved to Warner Robins. Miss Eileen Evans and Miss Mary Flannigan of Tifton were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Byron i Warren the first of the week. Guy Wade of Macon spent the ■ weekend here with Dr. and Mrs. J. L. Gallemote. Mrs. Ava Short left Friday for Lexington, N C., where she will spend a month with her daugh ter, Mrs. John Binns. Mrs. J. M. Gooden returned Sunday from a visit with her sister, Mrs. F. M. Jones, at Leslie. Mrs. Hattie Kemper of Fort Valley, Mrs. Lena Stembridge of Macon and R. N. Etheridge of Jackson visited their brother, J. P. Etheridge, and Mrs. Ether idge, and their sister, Mrs. Ger trude Brantley, here Sunday. Louis Hammock of Chattanoo ga, Tenn., is visiting his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Ham . mock, at Kathleen. Miss Gervais Wynn spent last weekend at Ocilla with her family. Miss Montine Harrison and Buddy Manor visited Mr. Ma nor’s parents in Macon last weekend. Miss Dorothy Avera spent last weekend in Fort Valley, where she visited her grandparents. Miss Leonora Houser, Miss Martha Cooper, Miss Louise Houser and Martha Evans spent last week at Jacksonville Beach. Mrs. George C, Nunn, repre senting the W.S.C.S. of the Per ry Methodist Church, attended a joint retreat of the North and South Georgia Conference W. S. ' C. S. at Wesleyan College last week. Dr. Margaret Applegarth ot New York was the principal speaker. Mr. and Mrs. John Barker and son, John, Jr., of Molina, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. W'illiam Barfield here Sunday, Mrs. Clint Hardy and sons, ; Jack, Dick and Percy and Mrs, (Kathryn Torbet and daughter, Patricia, spent the weekend with relatives at Forsyth, Mr. and Mrs. Dameron Black of Atlanta and Jacksonville were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Marion L. Brown. Mr.and Mrs. Harris Rape have moved into their new home in the Cater Subdivision. Mrs. T. L. Hendrix returned Tuesday from Petersburg, Va., (where she has been for two months. Mrs. Julius Heard of Kathleen has returned home after visiting . her son, Jack Knight, and Mrs. Knight in Cantonment, Fla., and her daughter-in-law, Mrs, Har mon Knight, in Mobile, Ala. Hardy, Jr., was solemnized on the evening of August 30 at the home of Miss Lawrence's sister, Miss Mildred Davenport of Ma con, The Rev. James A. Ivey of the Perry Baptist Church per formed the double ring cere mony. Miss Lawrence wore a jewel green traveling suit and wore a spray of orchids at the shoulder. Her accessories were winter black. The out-of-town guests were delightfully entertained at a re ception following the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. Hardy left for a short wedding trip to Highlands, North Carolina. Mrs. Hardy formerly held a po sition with Georgia Power Com pany, Mr. and Mrs. Hardy are now making their home in Perry where Mr. Hardy is employed by Andrew Hardware Company. ANNOUNCEMENTS The Executive meeting of the W.S.C.S. will be held at the home of Mrs. A. M. Anderson, Jr., on Monday at 4 p.m. Mrs. G. W. Hicks, president. Commander Phil Anderson has called a joint meeting of the ex ecutive committees of the Ameri can Legion Post and the Legion Auxiliary for 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Legion Home. Important plans for coordinating the programs of the Legion and Auxiliary will be discussed. A chicken supper will be given at the Clinchfield Presbyterian Church from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, under the auspices of the Ladies Club of the church. Plates 75c, coffee sc. Mrs. Morgan, who recently underwent an op eration at Mercy Hospital, Ma con, is recuperating at the home of Mrs. Paschal Muse, her sister.
