Nov. 7. 1946 __ The Perry-Scape Perry Takes Two From Hawkinsviiie Perry High dealt two defeats to the Hawkinsvile five here Fri day night to add two more to add two more to their thus-far perfect record. In the opening “B” game, the score was never close, the Bees, led by the scoring and defensive play of Howard Peyton, leaving the Hawkinsviiie boys a t the short end of a 88 to 12 score by the final whistle. Peyton ac-1 counted for 12 joints and the scoring honors for the game. The first string seemed to be below their normal form, ren dering the first quarter of the second grme a slow and unevent ful period, In the second quarter, they recovered slightly, put still seemed to be below par. They are now run ; ning neck to neck wuth the Lions, The Bulldogs are still out of sight from the rest, but the other two teams hope to di minish this lead with the debates j coming up this week. Bobby Sutton has returned to school after an illness of a few weeks. The Key Club in the school at last appears to be getting under | way. A citizenship committee has been appointed in the high school to promote good sportsmanship j at the basketball games. So far they have received excellent co operation from the student body. Two debates are scheduled for this week. Wednesday, th e Lions met the Wolves, and Fri day, the Lions and Bulldogs will meet. These debates count 25 points each, and therefore are very important in the literary contests. With the exception of fire crackers, the school students ex hibited very good conduct last Hallowe’en night. Advertisements on the annuals 1 have nearly totaled $5OO. The annual staff has thus far made considerable progress towards the goals they set at the first of the year. Mrs. Slocurr.h of the Macon Chapter of the American Junior Red Cross spoke to the council of the high school organization, Friday, November 1, in their first meeting of the year. The first project to be carried out by the school is the filling of 25 gift boxes to be shipped to children in European countries this Christ mas. Present indications are that the school will exceed their quotas. Sara Ivey, president of the ! Perry High School organization, talked to the Kiwanis Club Tues day about the work of the Junior | Red Cross and her visit to the national convention in Philadel phia last spring.
