These three capable and progressive citizens and veterans of Perry who have an
nounced for posts on the city council of Perry, are endorsed by the
Houston County Veterans Association.
The Houston County Veterans Association is a voluntary organization of veterans of Houston County whose aim
shall be the promotion of civic improvements, among which are a Modern Swimming Pool and a well staffed
City and County Health Unit, and of Better and More Progressive Government in our
County and in Our City.
1 his organization and these candidates for office subscribe to our principle that we are citizens first and veterans next. It will be the aim
of this organization—and we are sure of these candidates-to promote first the general welfare, and second the interest of the veterans.

and Debaters Club.
Mr. Harden came back Mon
day to take some informal snaps
and pictures of the class officers.

the end of school.

Wolves Win Points
In Singing Contest
The Wolves finally howled
loudly enough to add twenty-five
points to their score. Their songs,
“The Little Brown Church in the
Wildwood” and “Come Ye
Thankful People,” received the |
unanimous approval of the judg-1
es. The Bulldogs sang “A Mer
ry Life” and “The Bells of St.
Marys.” The Lions gave “Short
enin Bread” an d “Beautiful
Dreamer.” This victory for the
Wolves leaves less than 15 points
difference in the standings of
| the three clubs.
Last week the Wolves and
Bulldogs picked up 15 points in
Boys’ and Girls’ Essay contest.
Sarah Ivey won for the former;
Earl Whipple for the latter,
BIRTHDAY PARTY
Martha Evans, daughter of Mr.
and MJrs, W. B. Evans, and Kenneth
Abney, son of Mrs. Martha Abney,
celebrated their eighth birthday
v/ith a party at the Evans home
Sunday afternoon
Fifty children were invited to the
party. The dining room was decor
ated with pink and blue stream
ers and crep e paper. Two cakes, one
at each end of the table, were pink
and blue. Locomotive whistles were
given as jpvors to the boys and
books to the girls. Ice cream, cake
j and candy were served.
