MEETING is held

The Clinton C. Duncan chapter
of the United Daughters of the Con
federacy held a social meeting on
Dec. 4 at the home of Mrs. E.W.
Traylor with Mrs. H.T. Gilbert as
co-hostess.
Miss Norine Swanson and Mrs.
j M, Gooden led the group in sing
ing Christmas carols, with Mrs. El
mer Wolfe as accompaniest. Fol
lowing the group singing, Miss
Swanson and Mrs. Gooden sang a
duct. Miss Swanson then told the
origin of the poem, The Night Be
fore Christmas, and Mrs. George
Riley read a Christmas poem.
A delightful salad course was
served during the social hour.
MISS TERRY HONORED

Miss Myrtis Terry, bride-elect of
Willis Usry, Americus, was honored

Scouts and Brownies
Give P.T.A. Program
The Girl Scouts and the Brownie
Scouts gave the program for the
meeting of the Parent Teachers As
sociation at the schoolhouse Tues
day afternoon.
The Brownie Troop sang the
Brownie song to open the program.
Helen Davis discussed Girl Scouts
at Work and Play. The Intermediate
Scouts presented the Slumber Song i
and Brahms’ Lullaby was by Betty
Ann Smith and Peggy Jo Mitchell.

Midnight Clear—was given b y
Beth Daniel, Angela Anderson, Bcn
nieta Andrew, Bobby Smith, Mar
garet Ann Gibson, accompanied by
Jo Alice Moody. The Brownies, In
termediate and Senior Scouts sang
a closing number.
The Boy Scouts will have the pro

announce the birth of a son, to be
called William Edgar Barfield. Jr.,
at the Mercy Hospital in Macon on

Mr. and Mrs. Alton Hardy an
nounce the birth of a son, to be
called James Edward Hardy, at the
Gallemore Clinic on Dec. 5.
Mrs. Earl Hyde of G.S.C.W., Mill
edgeville, spent Thanksgiving with
Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Kezar at Elko.

where Mr. Etheridge attended a
meeting of representatives of the

Foundation for Infantile Paralysis.
Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Marshall, Sr.,
and Capt. Clifford Marshall of
Reynolds visited Mr. and Mrs. W.
E. Marshall, Jr., here last weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Bailey of Pc-1
oria, 111., visited relatives in Perry
and Cochran last week.
Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Brunson and
Mrs. J. V. Hopkins were called to
Dublin Thursday because of the ill
ness and death of Mrs. Callie Da
vis, Mr. Brunson’s sister, who lived
in Perry a number of years. The
funeral was held in Dublin Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Stewart and
children, Betty, Billy and James and
Mr, and Mrs. H. C. Stewart of Vi
enna spent last week with their sis
ter, Mrs. C. R. Brown in Lake
Wales, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Hungerford
of Waycross visited their brother
and sister Mr. and Mrs. Deforest
Hungerford here Sunday. Mr. D.F.
Hungerford Sr, of Spartanburg,
S.C. the father, is also visiting his
son here for several weeks.

J.B. Calhoun, a patient at the U.
S. Naval Hospital in Dublin, spent
the weekend here with his family.
Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Evans and
daughter, Martha, spent the week
end with Mr. Evans’ family at
Moreland, Ga.
Mrs. J.M. Gooden spent a few
days last week in Atlanta with her
daughter, Miss Betty Gooden.
Mayo Davis, A.C. Pritchett, W
•B. Hodge, and L.C. Davis of Cleve
land, Tenn. left Wednesday for
Homasassa, Fla. on a fishing trip.
