HARRISON-MANER
Miss Montine Harrison, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Harrison of
Perry, and Roy C. Maner, Jr., son
of Mr. and Mrs. Roy C. Maner, Sr.,
of Macon, were married Sunday
afternoon, December 15 at the Hen
derson Methodist church. The Rev.
J. W. Hays, pastor, and the Rev.
William J. Erwin of Vienna offi
ciated.
A program of music was rendered
by Mrs. William J. Erwin, pianist,
and Miss Ann Hardwick of Wesle
yan Conservatory sang “Because”
and “I Love You Truly”.
The church was decorated witk
white gladiolis and candelbra, hold
ing white tapers against a back
ground of pine and smilax. Ushers
were Herman Davis of Elko, and
Evan B. Guth, Jr. of Perry. E. D.
Wilder was the groom’s best man.
Miss Jane Riley was maid of honor.
She wore a two peice blue suiV
with brown accessories and a cor
sage of pink carnations.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore a grey wool suit,
with a pink sheer blouse with a
pink hat, and black accessories and
a corsage of pink roses.
The brides mother wore a suit
of black wool with aqua sheer
blouse and black accessories. Her
corsage was pink roses. T h e
grooom’s mother wore a green wool
suit and a corsage of pink roses.
Immediately after the ceremony,
the couple left on a wedding trip,
after which will make their home
in i^rry.
Prices paid to farmers for pea
nuts harvested in 1947 are likely
to be determined by the support
level, according to economists.

entertained a t a dinner party
Christmas night in honor of Miss
Dorothy Hinton of Reynolds and
Waller Riley of Lakeland, Fla., who
were married Saturday at Reynolds.
Guests at the lovely affair, be
sides the bride-elect and her fian
cee, were Capl. C. E. Marshall of
Reynolds, Miss Ann Wells of Mill
edgeville, Pat Poe, Misses Cherie
Poe and Betty Atkinson, Crawford
Edwards, all of Macon; Misses Betty
Gooden and Jerry Cater and Earl
and Tommie Marshall of Perry.
The Marshall family attended the
wedding at Reynolds Saturday.
Mrs. Anna Flynn
Mrs. Annna Gregory Flynn, 81,
who made her home with Col. and
Mrs. C. E. Stebbins at Kathleen,
died in a Macon hospital Dec. 24
after a brief illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Flynn,
who had lived with the Stebbinses
for the last 10 months, were held
Dec. 24 in Macon and burial was in
| Neodasha, Kan. Mrs. Flynn was an
[ Eastern Star for 02 years and a
member o f the Presbyterian
Church.
Besides Mrs. Stebbins, who is her
niece, Mrs. Flynn is survived by a
sister, Mrs. Hannah Elizabeth Hyatt
of Kathleen, and a brother, Charles
Hay of lowa.

was in charge of arrangements.

hosts Sunday afternoon, Dec. 22,
1 from 4 to 6 p, m. at an open house
for members of their families and
their neighbors. Mrs. R. E. Brown,
Mrs. George C. Nunn and Mrs. C.
O. Grimes assisted Mrs. Nunn in

Court.
2. That tract or parcel of land
containing 102 acres, more or less,
and being the East half of Lot No. j
119 in the upper sth District of
Houston County, Georgia.
Also that tract or parcel of land
lying and being in Lot No. 142 in
the upper sth District of Houston
County, Georgia, containing 1585
square yards and being more fully
described in deed from Mrs. Fannie
Glossier to A. McD King dated May
11, 1895, recorded in the Clerk’s of
, fice of the Houston Superior Court
in Book DD, folio 327.

and 122; being bounded now or
formerly on the North by lands of
F.S. Statham and Mrs. Willie Stem
bridge; on the East by lands of
Minnie Hicks; on the South by
lands of Dr. S. D. Smith, and on
the West by lands of Willie Garvin.
That tract or parcel of land lying
and being in the Upper sth District
of Houston County, Georgia, con-

No. 118 and 101.83 acres of land lot
No. 143; also 93.47 acres of land lot
No. 160 in the 10th District of
Houston County, Georgia, and
50.49 acres in land lot No. 161 in
said 10th District; all lying in a
body and containing 321 acres,
more or less, and known as the Jo
iah Bass place. A plat of said land
is recorded in Map Book 1, Pago

purposes.

Said lands are the same as convey
ed by deed dated Dec .15, 1931,
from W.O. Kinney and Co. to H.
A. Tucker and R.P. Walker, record

purpose of paying the debts of said

LAND USE PRACTICES
Georgia farmers need to decrease
the acreag devoted to cultivated
crops and increase the acreage of
perennial hays, pasture and wild
fire areas and abolish the wasteful
practice of allowing more than 1,
000, 000 acres to remain idle each
year, according to soil conservatio
nists of the State Extension Ser-
I vice.

S. A. NUNN, whose Post Office
address is Perry, Georgia, respect
fully showeth to the Court:
1. Petitioners desire for them
selves, others to be associated with
them, and their successors, to be in
corporated for a period of thirty
five (35) years under the corporate
name and style o f “GEORGIA
SOUTHERN LUMBER COMPANY
INC.”
2. The object of said corporation I
is pecuniary gain to the corporation
and to the stockholders.
3. The principal office of said
corporation will be located in the
City of Warner Robins, Houston
County, Georgia, but Petitioners de
sire the right to establish branch
offices and places of business else
where whenever the Board of Di
rectors of said corporation may de
termine that same is advisable.
4. The business to be carried on
by said corporation is as follows:
a. The operation of saw mills
and planing mills and the buying,
processing and manufacturing of
lumber of all kinds.
b. The manufacturing, buying,
selling and otherwise dealing in

5. The capital stock of said corpo
ration shall be Thirty-Five Thou
sand Dollars ($35,000.00), repre
sented by Three Hundred Fifty
Shares of capital stock of the pa»
value of One Hundred Dollars
($100.00) each and Petitoners pray
that they be granted the right to
increase such capital stock from
time to time by a vote of the ma
jority of the stockholders of said
corporation to an amount not to
exceed Two Hundred Thousand
Dollars ($200,000.00). such increase
in capital stock to be either in pre
ferred or in common stock, as a ma
jority of the stockholders may de
termine.
6. The minimun amount of capital
stock with which said corporation
shall commence to do business shall
be Thirty-Five Thousand Dollars
($35,000.00). all of which has been
fully paid in.
7. Petitioners exhibit to the Court
herewith a certificate from the
Secretary of State of the State of
Georgia in manner and form as re
qured by law, certifying and de
claring that the name of the pro
posed corporation is not the name
of any other corporation now regis
tered in the office of the Secretary
of State of the State of Georgia.
Wherefore, Petitioners pray that
they may be incorporated under
the name and style as herein set
out and that they may be granted
all rights, privileges and immu
nities, which are now or may be
hereafter permitted by the laws of
the State of Georgia.

the laws of the State of Georgia,

“GEORGIA SOUTHERN LUMBER
COMPANY, INC.” is not the name
of any other existing corporation
I now registered in the office of the
Secretary of State of the State of
Georgia.
It is therefore considered, ordered
and adjudged that the said appli
cation for charter be, and the same
is hereby granted, and the Petitio
ners, their associates and successors,
are hereby incorporated under the
name and style of “GEORGIA
SOUTHERN LUMBER COMPANY,
INC. and with all of the rights,
powers and privileges as prayed.
