light system.
Paving of Depot Street is in pro
gress. The work is being done by
E. M. Beckham and J. A. Davis,
who are also completing a paving
contract on the Macon road.
Mr. and Mrs. Jere Davis spent
Monday with their children. Dr. and
Mrs. E. B. Davis at Byromville.
Walter B. Evans, principal of Perry
High School, returned Saturday
from Moreland where he visited
his family during the holidays. The
many friends of J. P. Duncan will
be glad to know that he is improv
ing. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Cooper
of St. Charles, S. C., will move t o
Perry in about two weeks to make
their home with Mrs. Fannie Nor
wood, Mrs. Cooper’s mother. Mr.
Cooper will engage in cotton buy
ing. L. R. Couch of Columbus was
j the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. L.
Hodges Monday.
From Elko: Mrs. J. D. Grace and
children left Friday for their home
in Clearwater, Fla., after spending
two weeks with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. W. H. Buff. The store of
C. E. and J. L. Eubanks was burn
ed Thursday morning; nothing was
saved from the building.
From Centerville: Mrs. W. Brant
ley of Macon is the guest of her
daughter, Mrs. L. J. Garvin. C. N.
Ray, superintendent of the Center
ville school, returned after spending
Christmas with his parents at Com
merce.
From Kathleen: Mr. and Mrs. W.
D. Kersey spent last week with his
mother, Mrs. C. A. Kersey. Mr. and
Mrs. Carl Gillespie of DeSota, Ga„
and Mr. and Mrs. John Launius of

cure debt made by Virgil N.Bramb
lett to Mrs. Matti* Vinson, recorded
in Book 58 folio 368, Clerks’s Office,
Houston Superior Court, the under
signed will, on the 7th day of Jan
uary, 1947, before the courthouse
door in said County, during the le
gal hours of sale, sell to the high
est bidder for cash, the following
described property, to-wit;
All that tract or parcel of land
lying and being in the lower Fifth
District of Houston County, Geor
gia, and being the west half of land
lot 213 and a fractional part of
land lot 212 and bounded as fol
lows; On the South by lands of
Mr. Ben Roberson; and on the
West by lands of Alex Furgerson
and Dr. Story; on the North by
Echeconnee Creek; on the East by
lands of C. D. Vinson, with lines
as follows; Beginning at a point
midway the Southern boundary of
land lot 213 and running due West
the distance of half a land lot to
corner with lands of Mr. Ben Rob
erson and Alex Furgerson; thence
running due North to Echeconnee
Creek; thence running East down
the stream of the creek across a
half land lot to the line of C. D.
Vinson and then running due south
to the point of beginning and con
taining 125 acres more or less with
the exception of 3 or more acres
sold to W. R. Richardson by grant
ee herein.
Said property will be sold for the
purpose of paying certain prom
issory notes for the sum of $1283.00
as of November 1, 1946, together
with interest thereon to the date of
sale at the rate of 6 percent per an
num plus amounts paid by the
grantee in the deed to secure debt
for insurance and taxes on said
property. Said indebtedness ma
tured by reason of the failure of
the grantor to pay the note which
matured November 1, 1946, as is
more fully described in said deed
to secure debt and the holder of
the same having declared the en
tire indebtedness due and by rea
son of said declaration and power
of sale contained in said deed to
secure debt has become operative.
The proceeds of said sale are to
be applied to said indebtedness with
taxes, insurance and costs, the bal
ance, if any, to be paid to the
grantor therein or his assignee.
Deed to the purchaser will be
made by the undersigned.
