R. E. LEE PROGRAM
PRESENTED BY U.D.C.
A program based upon the life of
General Robert E. Lee was pre
sented at the March meeting of the
Sgt. Clinton C. Duncan chapter of
the United Daughters of the Con
federacy at the home of Mrs. Felton
Norwood last Wednesday.
Mrs, J. Frank Bonner spoke on
“R. E. Lee as a Southern Edu
cator;” Miss Norine Swanson spoke
on "R. E. Lee as President of Wash
ington College,” and Mrs. H. S. Ke
rar discussed “The Faculty and Stu
dents of Washington College."
Mrs. Bonner read a letter written
i>y General Lee acceptirr' the presi
dency of Washington College.
Felton Norwood, Jr., accompanied
at the piano by Miss Willie Ryals,
sang two Irish songs.
Guests who came after the meet
ing for tea were Mrs. J. J. Rooney,
Mrs. A. L. Stanton, Mrs. W. C.
Jones, Miss Ryals, and Mrs. J. B.
Smith.
A delightful social hour followed
the program.

Houston to Get 19
Miles of REA Lines
Representative Stephen Pace ad
vised The Home Journal this week
that REA lines in Houston county
will soon be extended 19 miles as a
result of the approval by theREA of
a $300,000 loan to the Flint Electric
Membership Corp.
“I understand this will give us
additional extensions in the Third
District as follows: 19 miles in
Houston county, 62 miles in Taylor
county, 17 miles in Macon county,
G miles in Schley county and 43
miles in Marion county," Mr. Pace
said.
Rep. Pace advised Manager B. W.
Hinton of the Flint Corp. that he
hoped the materials for beginning
construction of the lines would soon
be available. He said it gave him
pleasure to support the application
for the loan.
"As you know, it is one of the
ambitions of my life to secure elec
tric service for every farmhouse in
the State of Georgia within the next
three years,” Rep. Pace said.

The petition of A. M. Anderson,
C. E. Andrew, T. C. Rogers, J. M.
Tolleson, Jr., and S. A. Nunn, each
of whose Post Office address is
Perry, Georgia, respectfully show
eth to the Court:
1. Petitioners desire for them
selves, others to be associated with
them, and their successors, to be in
corporated and made a body corpo
rate for and during a period of
thirty-five (35) years, with the
privilege of renewal at the expi
ration of said time, under the corpo
rate name and style of AMERICAN
LEGION COMMUNITY CLUB, INC.
2. Petitioners desire for themsel
: ves and others to be associated
! with them, to be incorporated as a
| non-profit, charitable corporation,
and not for individual pecuniary

j and supporting charitable, recrea
| tional, athletic and educational en
i terprises, causes and projects among
j its own members and the people of
; Perry and Houston County.
3. Said corporation shall have no
capital stock.
4. The principal office of the cor
poration shall be in the Town of
Perry, Houston County, Georgia.
5. Petitioners desire that they be
permitted to acquire property, both
real and personal, by lease, pur
chase, gift, devise and bequest: to
hold, use and enjoy same and to
sell, exchange or donate any such
real or personal property as it may
deem desirable or appropriate in
carrying out the purposes for which
( incorporation is sought.
6. Petitioners desire that they be
granted authority to adopt such
rules and by-laws, not inconsistent
with the purposes of said corpora
tion, as may be deemed fit and pro
per to effectuate the purposes of
said corporation.
7. Your Petitioners present here
with a certificate from the Secre
tary of State of the State of Geor
gia, in manner and form as required
by law, certifying and declaring
that the name of the proposed cor
poration is not the name of any
other corporation now registered in
the office of the Secretary of State
of the State of Georgia.
Wherefore, Petitioners pray for
themselves, their associates and
successors, to be incorporated un
der the name and style aforesaid;
and that they be granted all the
rights, privileges and immunities
which are now or may be hereaf
ter granted or permitted by the
1 laws of the State of Georgia.
