Parents Day Set
At Milledgeville
MILLEDGEVILLE,—Parents o f
students at the Georgia Stale Col
lege for Women here will be guests
of honor at Parents Day to be held
at the college on April 18, Presi
dent Guy Wells announced.
This event, formerly an annual
highlight on the GSCW calendar,
had to be called off during the war
because of gas rationing and other
shortages. It will be sponsored by
the Granddaughter’s Club, an or
ganization composed of students
whose mothers also attended the
college.
A program in honor of the pa
lents, with a distinguished GSCW
alumna as speaker, will bo held in
the Richard B. Russell Auditorium.
A lunch will be served on the
front campus, and classes dismissed
lor the afternoon.

Coaches Eric P. Staples of the
Class B high school basketball
championship Perry High Panthers,
and W. C. Childs of the Class C
kings, Irwinvllle High, will get a
chance to demonstrate their coach
ing methods at the annual Georgia
Athletic Coaches Association clinic
in Atlanta, Aug. 14-20. These hon
ors go with winning state titles.
Staples will serve as co-coach
with Selby Buck of Lanier High of
Macon in tutoring the North All-
Star quintet, and Childs will be co
coach with Chick Shiver of the
South All-Star squad.
These teams, composed of high
school seniors from all sections of
the state, meet in Atlanta in a game
as one of the features of the annual
coaches’ clinic. An All-Star foot
ball game is also held.
