The marriage of Miss Rose Doro
thy Batson of Millard, Miss., to
Jerry Alva Davis, Jr., of Perry was
a quiet affair taking place on Tues
day, March 11, at 2 o’clock in the
little chapel of the First Presby
terian Church in Gulfport, Miss.
The ceremony was performed by
Dr. J. N. Brown, pastor of the
church, in the presence of the im
mediate families.
John Hunter Hurst, a first cousin
of the groom, acted as usher. The
chapel was beautifully decorated in
white Easter lillies, white gladioli
and white stocks. The couple en
tered together and they were un
attended.
The bride was lovely in a green
wool suit with brown accessories,
and on her arm she carried a green
bag covered with talisman roses.
The bride’s mother and the
groom’s mother both wore dressed
in a one piece dress of dusty rose
material and they wore corsages of
pink roses. The bride’s grandmo
ther, Mrs. Rose M. Batson of Pop
larville, Miss., wore a gray coat
suit ,and a corsage of gardenias.
After congratulations and best
wishes had been extended, the
young couple left for a short wedd
ing trip to points of interest in
Florida, Georgia and South Caro
lina.
Upon their return they will be at
home in .their cottage at Houston
Lake.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Alva Davis, Sr.,
have returned from a visit to Mr.
and Mrs. Eugene Ottis Batson of
Millard, Miss. While there they at
tended the marriage of their son, J.
A. Davis, Jr., to Miss Rose Dorothy
Batson, which took place at Gulf
port, Miss., on March 11. They also
visited New Orleans, La. On Thurs
day afternoon, March 13, Mrs. Bat
son gave a tea in honor of Mrs.
Davis.

that she is able to be out after un
dergoing a major operation at
River Side Hospital in Montezuma.

her to Kentucky for an indefinite
