New Officers of the Perry Woman’s Club were
installed at a banquet at The New Perry Hotel

Installs New Officers
The Ferry Woman’s Club
held its annual installation
dinner and meeting Monday
evening at the New Ferry
Hotel.
The meeting was opened
with a devotional by
president elect, Mrs.
Miller.
After a delicious banquet,
outgoing president Mrs.
Kichard I. Smith called on
her department chairman
for a short resume of their
year’s work. They were:
Mrs. J. M. Hamilton, con
servation; Mrs. William
Edwards, education; Mrs.
Dorothy Bell, international
affairs; Mrs. B. B. Nall,
public affairs; Miss Alline
Byals, Tallulah Falls.
Mrs. Smith gave her report
and announced that the
Ferry Woman’s Club had
received 3 awards for ex
cellence from the Third
District of Georgia
federation of Woman’s
(Jubs. They were Education
[jept,, third place; Public
Affairs Dept., third place;
Tallulah Falls, first place.
Mrs. E. L. Norris, new
president of the Third
District of Georgia
Federation of Woman’s
(Jlubs was the guest speaker.

Mrs. Louis Ragan Sr. and
Mrs. Hugh Hagan Sr. visited
relatives in Macon Sunday
afternoon and attended the
play “He Tourched "Me" at
the Evanaglistic Church in
Macon Sunday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Emerson
Smith. Jackie and Ricky
visited their daughters and
families, Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Nickel and Mr. and Mrs.
Bobby lamb of Thomson.
Ga. over the weekend.
Miss Maida Ragan visited
her parents Mr. and Mrs.
Louis Ragan Sr. over the
weekend.
Henderson Baptist W.M.U.
met Monday April 17th at the
church with 18 members
present, after the business
session and bible study a
film was shown on Home
Missions. The meeting was
closed with prayer and ail
enjoyed delicious refresh
ments served by Mrs. Ted
Thames.

the Warner Robins Woman’s
Club and will serve as Third
District President for two
years. Her talk on “Woman's
Club in My Life” was very
much enjoyed by club
members.
Mrs. Emma Stapleton and
Mrs. Emma Griffin were
honored with certificates as
Members of Merit of the
Ferry Woman’s Club.

Stamps Needed" This sign
outside a church in Warner
Robins set me thinking. How
many of us go out of our way
to buy at the store that gives
the right stamps? 1 wonder
how many people would be in
church if we gave stamps?
It’s a thought isn’t it?
Hut then we go back to the
first line and the wonderful
thought that no stamps are
needed for salvation! It is a
free gift of God. I think
perhaps that is one reason
Mrs. Gene dance of

Thames and family Friday,
April 14th.
Mrs. Ragan treated
the Primary Class of Hen
derson Baptist Church
Wednesday, April 12th with a
party. Seven members were
present.

people to accept Gods gift, in
this mercenary world of ours
we expect to pay for
anything we get and distrust
the things that are free. How
about it why don’t you go
next Sunday to the
Redemption Center where
you will need no stamps for
the most wonderful gifts of
all.
Last Tuesday night a
Sunday School teacher, a RA
Counselor and a Pastor
found themselves in a yelling
howling mob! No it wasn’t a
demonstration. They were
just with a group of RA's and
Intermediates at the
Coliseum for the wrestling
matches. A good time was
had by all
Mrs. Dora Goss had as a
week-end guest her
daughter. Joann Unger of
Warner Robins.
The Deacons and their
wives met at the Carriage
Inn in Eastman last Friday
night. After a delicious meal
and a lot of fun Mr Brown
called the meeting to order
and gave an inspiring talk.
The theme of which was
Womans’ place in the growth
of the Church and he asked
the support of the women. A
roundtable discussion
followed. We think a lot was
accomplished and plan to try
this again. We even learned
that we have a Deacon
named George
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne
Griffin and Jennifer were the
Sunday dinner guest of Mr.
and Mrs. Roy Griffin of
Byromville.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence had
as guests Mr. and Mrs,
Johnnie Castle of Hun
tington. W. Va. and Mr. and
Mrs. Frederick Sammons of
Whitehouse, Tenn. They
were on their way home
after visiting relatives in
Bradenton, Fla.

Perry Club Council Sets Budget
The second quarterly
meeting of the Perry Club
Council, Inc. for 1972 was
held on Monday night, April
10, 1972, at the Ochlahatchee
Clubhouse. A budget of
$15,800.00 was established
for the Club’s operation in
1972.
A new set of swimming
pool rules was established
and will be sent to the Club
members as soon as
possible. The Ochlahatchee
Pool will open on Saturday,
June 3,1972 and remain open
through August 20,1972. Pool
hours will be from twelve to
six daily and from one to
seven on Sundays. Swim
ming lessons will be given in
the mornings, if qualified
instructors can be found. The
pool will remain open until
seven on weekdays, if there
appreciation to each of her
officers and department
chairman.

presented Mrs. Smith with a
lovely engraved silver tray,
a gift from the club.

periods will be set for the
pool this year. Also, children
of eight years of age or
younger must be ac
companied by a person over
sixteen years of age.
The activities committee
chairmen, Mr. Tommy
Storey and Mrs. Myrtle
Buckner, reported that our
bridge class was completely
filled and that plans were
being made for additional
bridge classes as well as
square dance lessons and
other adult activities for the
summer and fall of this year.
It was also noted that the
first annual Ochlahatchee
Invitational Basketball
Tournament will be held at
The Westfield Gym starting
Monday night, April 24, with
the first game beginning at
7:30 each night. The Perry
Civitan Club, Exchange
Club, Kiwanis Club, and
Rotary Club, will challenge
each other in this double
elimination tournament.
Tickets are $2.00 per family
for the entire tournament.

given the following Clubs for
accepting projects in
Ochlahatchee Park for the
coming year: Exchange
Club, Rotary Club, Civitan
Club, Beltista Club, Idaka
Club, Perry Business

League Council. The work
done by these Clubs on our
Perry Shrine Club Holds
Cookout At Monthly Meet
The Regular Monthly
Meeting of the Perry Shrine
Club was held at the Perry
Country Club, April 12th.
After a steak cookout, the
business meeting was
conducted with President A1
Wilson presiding. The in
vocation was given by Noble
Ed Willis. Secretary Larry
Miller reported that the
membership is continuing to
grow and there are now 78
members in the Perry Club.

pointed out that the Shriners
main activity is supporting
the various Shrine Hospitals
for Burned and Crippled
Children. All deserving
cases are treated with no
expense to the family.
A ladies Night is being
planned in conjunction with
the regular May Meeting and
members will be contacted
as to the date and time by the
Secretary.
