Dam Complete j
The new power dam that was being !
put across the Chestatee river at New I
Bridge, between here and Dahlonega,
by the Gainesville & Dahlonega Elec
tric Railway Company, has been de-l
dared completed, and this has been
signalized by shotting off the water |
from the building sluices.
This dam is three hundred feet long,
and gives a headway of twenty-six feet,
and the volume of water gained is suf-,
ficient to produce 1200 horse power.
Eight monster horizontal turbine |
wheels, geared on a shaft, will trans
mit the power to two generators.
These wheels have already been placed
In position, and work is being done on j
the power station. This will be com
pleted by the time the work on the
tracks and wiring for the street rail
way and lighting system, thaj; is being I
done in this city, is finished. The work
of surveying and grading continues to j
go on very rapidly on Green street, and
the company hopes to have cars in op- j
eration and be able to furnish the peo
ple of Gainesville the bast rapid transit j
facilities by Christmas, and put the i
line in operation to Dahlonega next ]
spring.
To My Friends.
It is with joy I tell you what Kodal j
did for me. I. was troubled with my
stomach for several mop ths. Upon be
ing advised to use Kodol, I did so and j
words cannot tell the good it has done j
me. A neighbor had dyspepsia so j
that he had tried most everything’ I
told him to use Kodol. Words of grati- I

recommended it-Geo. W. Fry, Viola,

Breaks His Arm in Ball Game.
Will Wallace broke his arm in a very
peculiar way while pitching a ball
game in Winder last Friday. He had
accompanied the Gainesville team to
Winder, where they were to play the
nine of that place, and was in the box
for Gainesville. At the very first of
the game, as he raised his arm to twirl
» ball across the plate, the bone of his
opper arm snapped in two. He
eras carried to a residence near by,
where he spent the night, and was
brought to Gainesville Saturday on the
noon train, and carried to the home of
bin mother, Mrs. S. A. Wallace. He
was at home on a vacation, and hopes
soon to be able to return to Gadsen,
Ala., where he has a railroad position,
and where also he has quite a refuta
tion as a bail player.

of Jesus Christ-the religion that makes j
a man happy and stays that way.
Every one cordially invited. Put on
the whole armor of God, Christans,
that souls may be saved. The impor-j

it is hoped, will be the Holy spirit.
