Mrs. Lauren Smiley is a
second-grade teacher. She
and her husband Brandon
adopted a young girl from
China; they named her
Leah. As a young girl, Mrs.
Smiley read an article in
school about overcrowded
orphanages where infants
had plenty of food but were
still dying. So ever since
she can remember, she has
wanted to adopt a child.
The Smileys submitted
their applications in April
of 2017, and they trav
eled to China to get their
daughter in September of
2018. Leah will turn 3 in
May. It has been a beau
tiful journey. Leah was
chosen as are all adopted
children.
Mrs. Marianna Dol-
lyhigh is a frequent sub
stitute teacher in Hall
County Schools. She and
her husband adopted two
kids, Annie and Sazo. Mrs.
Dollyhigh said that the
adoption process is ex
tremely hard. Mr. and Mrs.
Dollyhigh felt like God
was calling them to adopt
a child.
Mrs. Krystina McQueen
is a hairstylist on the
square. She and her family
are adopting a 4 year-old-
girl from India. They've
decided to name her Lively
Ann Sonali. Even though
they already have two kids,
they still want to adopt.
Many children need
homes. Consider giving a
child a home.

Teacher of the Year: Misty Bull

Mrs. Misty Bull is the
Teacher of the Year at Sardis
Enrichment School. When
interviewed, Mrs. Bull ex
claimed that she “feels very
humble and excited." To be
selected by your peers is an
honor, and the faculty and
staff chose Mrs. Bull because
of her love for children,
teaching, healthy initiatives
and just her all around good
ness.
Growing up, Mrs. Bulk
attended Fairview Elementary
in Habersham County. She
has always loved being active,
enjoyed sports and wanted
to be healthy. Therefore, she
became a P.E. teacher be
cause of her love with sports
and being healthy. She began
teaching when she was 22
years old and has not looked
back; promoting activity and
healthy initiatives has been a
priority. She leads the schools
efforts with the Alliance for
Healthier Schools and the
school has been recognized
numerous times.
Her favorite sport to play
is basketball, and she is a
fierce competitor. Her favor
ite sport to watch is football.
One of her favorite activities
to teach is line soccer because
"it's really fun to watch stu
dents play it."
Fourth-grade student,
Casey Nicholson exclaimed,
"I love Mrs. Bull. She's the
best and makes P.E. so much
fun. Third-grade teacher,
Dr. Shane Rayburn agreed
that "Mrs. Bull's energy and
enthusiasm for health and
physical activity is conta
gious. She has challenged me
to be more aware and health
ier." Other teachers and
students corroborated that
indeed Mrs. Misty Bull was a
great selection as Teacher of
the Year.

This year Sardis has a new assistant principal.
Her name is Dr. Ashley Hope. From our inter
view with her, we learned many things. This is
her first time being an assistant principal and
she is really excited about it.
Dr. Hope was born in Norman,Oklahoma.
Her childhood was amazing. She had a great
family and also got to travel a lot. She was
involved in many activities and sports while
growing up. Some of the sports and activities
she grew to love were basketball, track, cross
country, tennis, and she even completed a tri
athlon.
Dr. Hope always knew she wanted to be a
teacher and taught for 21 years before coming to
Sardis. Most recently before becoming a Bob
cat, Dr. Hope worked within the Georgia De
partment of Education in the Office of Assess
ment. She has taught kindergarten, first grade,
third grade and at the college level. She is full
of knowledge and willing to share to help teach
ers and students be the best they can be.
When asked why she chose Sardis Enrich
ment School, she responded, "I researched all
about Sardis and learned all the amazing stuff
that happens here." She decided it was the place
for her. She was hooked from the beginning
and loves being a Bobcat.
Dr. Hope has two children. Her son is a se
nior in high school and her daughter is a junior
in high school. She loves to run and exercise.
Welcome to Sardis, Dr. Hope! We extend the
often heard Sardis slogan to her, "Once a Bob
cat, Always a Bobcat!"

You may or may not have heard
of the Bobcat 5. If you went to
Sardis you definitely have heard
of these important rules. They are
not only important for school, but
they are important for life. You are
probably thinking, “What are the
rules of the Bobcat 5?"
The Bobcat 5 is our school ex-
THE BEST OF
pectations . They seem simple and
they really are; however, you have
to be intentional and remember to
use them daily to be a successful
Bobcat.
The Bobcat 5 are: Be Safe. Be
Ready to Learn. Be Responsible.
Be Caring. Be Respectful to every
one and everything.
Fourth-grade teacher, Mrs. Beth
Johnson, told us that her favor
ite rule of the Bobcat 5 is being
respectful to everyone and every
thing. She stated, The Bobcat 5
THE BOBCAT 5
rules are very important for years
beyond elementary." These expec
tations create good citizens.
Mr. Brad Fussell, a fifth-grade
teacher, agreed that being respect
ful to everyone and everything is
perhaps the one rule that can cover
it all in life. He argued that people
ought to be respectful and nice to
everyone despite any differences.
Clearly being a bobcat is very
meaningful if one follows the Bobcat
5. Our world could benefit by also fol
lowing the Bobcat 5.
