Street Market. Seeing the great
potential in the downtown loca
tion, Ordonez opened up his first
brick-and-mortar shop in Gaines
ville on Saturday, Dec. 15.
“I hope we have a big impact
here,” Ordonez said. “The com
munity is wonderful and I’m lov
ing the people. What I’m noticing
is that people want things to do.”
Ordonez graduated from culi
nary school in Ecuador, and since
then has been looking for ways to
share his passion.
He said many people have

taken quite well to the food truck,
which recently became featured
on season six of the Cooking
Channel’s Carnival Eats series.
Ordonez said the show high
lighted his peanut butter pork
doughnuts that were served at the
Bacon and Bourbon Fest in Wel
lington, Florida.
Unlike the food truck, which
only sells doughnuts, the Love
is All You Knead shop serves a
selection of rolled ice-cream,
crepes, breakfast sandwiches and
hot beverages.
To customers who feel guilty
about eating the sugary desserts,
Ordonez likes to remind them that,
“It’s fat free in the middle.”
All of the store’s doughnuts are
miniature and contain a cake bat
ter base. Ordonez said the size and
ingredients make the doughnuts
lighter and the ideal size for one
person. Each tray contains up to
eight miniature doughnuts.
With its maple syrup, bacon bits
and powdered sugar, The Hang
over currently takes the lead in
the most popular doughnut com
bination purchased at Love Is
All You Knead. Ordonez said two
other crowd doughnut favorites
include his take on an apple pie
and the salted caramel pretzel.
With a plethora of other dessert
businesses in Hall County, Ordonez
said his shop’s freshness helps it
stand out among the rest. Every
dessert is made to order.
“We don’t pre-make anything,”
he said. “It’s a little wait, but it’s
so well worth it because you’re
going to get freshness on top of it. ”
Ordonez, who also has a back
ground in event planning, hopes
to expand his influence beyond
tasty treats. He is currently work
ing with other businesses around
the Gainesville Square to start a
series of spring concerts and free
movie nights for kids.
“I’m not just doing this for me
and my company, I’m doing this
for the community,” he said. The
amount of people that will come
will benefit all the businesses
around here.”
For the future of Love Is All You
Knead, Ordonez said he would
love to open more shops and con
tinue spreading the word about his
sweet creations.
“I want Love Is All You Knead
to be a household name,” he said.
“I want us in every city, either
in kiosks in malls or storefronts.
If people say Dunkin’ Donuts or
Toll House, I want Love Is All You
Knead in that as well.”

“In the ‘80s, early ‘90s for some
of those areas, the residents were
almost held hostage in their own
homes, because there was a lot of
drug use and things like that in the
street... They put in those precincts in
there (and it) really developed a part
nership between us and the residents,
and the community kind of helped
curtail that,” he said.
Kelly, White, Parrish and
Martin were unsure of the
reason why the housing proj
ect precincts were shut down.
Addressing the improve
ments plan last week, Parrish
said the goal for the patrol
offices are “not even close” to
the same thing as the former
precincts.
“Those spaces were more of offices
for officers to go to. Our vision for
the (Capital Improvements Element
plan) is real police precincts.
It would be a place that would
be staffed by police person
nel, both sworn and civilian.
Every service that’s offered
in (the Queen City Parkway)
building would be offered at
those buildings, if it comes
to fruition. And that’s only if
we continue to grow at the
rate we’re growing and the
expected growth within the (Capital
Improvements Element) report,” he
said.
