4A Midweek Edition-April 5-6, 2023 The Times, Gainesville, Georgia | gainesvilletimes.com Marian “Jane” (Rodgers) Moore September 6,1936 - March 20, 2023 Marian “Jane" (Rodgers) Moore passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Jane was born in Atlanta to Frances (Kreider) and Bruce Hollingsworth Rodgers and graduated from Sylvan High School and the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. While at UGA, Jane was an active member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and was honored to share that membership with family and friends. After college, she enjoyed a kindergarten teaching career at West Manor School in Atlanta. She married her favorite Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket, Charles “Charlie" Moore in 1961 at Capital View Baptist and raised her family in Dunwoody and Gainesville, Georgia where they have remained for 42 years. After raising her children, she returned to the kindergarten classroom at First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville. Jane enjoyed baking, playing piano, and her monthly bridge group, but being with her family was her real love. She will be dearly missed by her husband of nearly 62 years, Charlie; three daughters, Melanie Swettand husband Ray; Marian Lynn Kaminski and husband Oliver; Mary Margaret Ray and husband Chuck. “Nane" was dearly loved by 5 grandchildren Mary Victoria (Raynes) Hines and husband Bradley; Elizabeth Jane and Mark Swett; Chase and Murphy Ray; a sister June Anne Wheeler; and numerous nieces and nephews. As a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Gainesville, she volunteered for many activities while serving the Lord, including Vacation Bible School, “Promising Futures" and the annual Emporium. Jane was also a devoted member of the Friendship Sunday School class at FBC. Loving and caring for family were her favorite pastimes, and we were all blessed to have her in our lives. A celebration of life will be held April 2, 2023 at 3:00 pm at the chapel of First Baptist Church Green Street with a reception to follow in the banquet hall lobby. Sharon Helton Delong March 27, 1943 - March 31, 2023 Sharon Helton Delong, 80, of Flowery Branch, GA passed away Friday, March 31,2023. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Rev. Junior Delong; parents, Ike and Flora Helton; brother, Samuel Helton; and sister, Joyce Simonds. Mrs. Delong is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jacky and Melody Delong of Flowery Branch, GA; grandchildren, Andy Delong, Tabitha and Derek Thomas, and Valerie Delong; great grandchildren, Carley Delong and Christopher Thomas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Daniel and Wendy Helton, and Jerry and Shirley Helton; aunt, Mae Davis; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Delong was born March 27, 1943 in Buford, GAand received her education from Sugar Hill School. She retired from Lanier Graphic after thirty-five years as a printer, and also worked for Georgia Boot in Flowery Branch. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, and also had attended Peoples Baptist Church, both in Flowery Branch.
