Daniel Hilario, 17, was charged with aggravated assault and aggravated sexual battery among other charges. He was booked Friday, Feb. 16, in to the Hall County Jail, where he remains with no bond. The case began Nov. 9 after the girl disclosed the allegations to an adult. Investigators believe Hilario and the girl, who was not identi fied other than being under the age of 16, met through social media in August, according to the Hall County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office said Hilario pointed a handgun at her while giving her a ride in late August. The sexual abuse charges are based on an incident between 10 p.m. Sept. 1 and 1 a.m. the next day in Hilario's pickup truck in a Thompson Bridge Road parking lot, according to authorities. The Sheriff's Office did not provide any further details. Hilario was additionally charged with child molesta tion, enticing a child for inde cent purposes, pointing a gun at another person, possession of a firearm during the commis sion of a crime, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and interference with custody. As part of the ceremony, worn, torn or tattered flags were respectfully retired in accordance with proper flag etiquette. Apartment fire destroys garage, burns vehicles BY NICK WATSON nwatson@gainesvilletimes.com A fire at a Gainesville apartment complex Tuesday, Feb. 20, destroyed a garage unit and damaged multiple vehicles, but firefighters were able to stop it from spreading it to the apart ments, according to authorities. Gainesville firefighters responded around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday to the Carrington Park Apart ments on Carrington Park Drive, where they found one of the garage units engulfed in flames. Firefighters were able to bring the flames under control by 3:09 a.m. Gainesville Fire Division Chief Joshua Sheri dan said the fire destroyed the garage unit and damaged two vehicles, a motorcycle and a boat. Firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading to the apartments. No injuries were reported. Georgia Power was called to the scene, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. LULA Hatchery plans on hold after council vote BY BRIAN WELLMEIER bwellmeier@gainesvilletimes.com A company's plans for a poultry hatchery in Lula are on hold after council members voted 4-0 not to expedite a new request to rezone 23 acres on Ga. 365 from highway business to agricultural use on Monday, Feb. 19. Lula City Council in October denied a simi lar request by Cleveland-based Construction Elevation to rezone the property from high way business to heavy industrial for a 60,000 square-foot facility. Under city ordinance, rezoning applications can’t be processed within a year of a prior decision on a specific property.
