Three people were rescued from a burning home in South Hall Sunday morning, while three pets “could not be saved,” according to Hall County Fire Rescue. Firefighters arrived at the house in the 4000 block of Melinda Lane to find a “heavy fire” inside a single-story, single-family house, the department said in a March 10 press release. “Prior to fire personnel arriving, neigh bors assisted three individuals exit the home through windows,” the release states. The residents were treated for minor injuries. The fire was brought under control “very quickly with an aggressive interior attack,” officials said. The cause of the fire wasn't known as of Monday, March 11. Two people were left homeless and two pets were found dead after a house fire Sunday night in the 5000 block of Britt Whitmire Road in North Hall. The American Red Cross was called to help the resi dents, who were not inside the house at the time of the 7:45 p.m. fire, Hall County Emergency Medical Ser vices Division Chief Bobby Ogletree said in an email. Firefighters responded to the March 10 fire after receiving a 911 call from a passerby, he said. Upon arrival, fire person nel found flames showing from a single-wide trailer. As the fire was being put out, firefighters “received word from a neighbor stat ing there should be no one inside,” Ogletree said. “With a primary search, firefighters confirmed there was no one inside the burning structure.” However, they did find one dog and one cat, both dead. Residents were left homeless and one person was treated for minor injuries in a house fire Sunday afternoon in the 4000 block of Stephens Road in Oakwood, according to Hall County Fire Rescue. Firefighters arrived seeing smoke com ing from the street side of the single-family home. “Attack lines were advanced inside the home and the fire was extinguished quickly,” states a March 10 email from Emergency Medical Services Division Chief Bobby Ogletree. Personnel “had to contend with several individuals attempting to gain entry into the burning structure to save the pets,” he said. “The pets were safely removed and survived.” Also, the American Red Cross was called to help residents displaced by the fire, Ogletree said. “It's unclear how many people reside at the address,” he said.
