Capt. Ed Smith, over at Sycamore,
says the B. & B. will most likely

would like to be connected with
Sycamore by direct rail.
Mr. Wm. S. P. Oskamp and wife
are in Ocilla. Mr. Oskamp,
like bis partner, Mr. J. Lee Ensign,
is full of enterprise, and the good
work of the firm for this section
will be felt long after their time.
Three hundred tons of steel rails
for the Brunswick and Birmingham
road have reached Brunswick and
track-layltog has begun. Uol, Machcn
has a fine record as a railroad build
er, and—we must have that road.

M. F. Jones, former tax collector
©f Brooks county, who was con
victed on a charge of embezzle
ment at the May term of Brooks
court, last year, and sentenced to
twelve months in the Chain gang,
was pardoned by the governor on
the lath inst. The writer knows
Mr. Jones, and a more clCver or a
more honest man does not live in
Brooks county. We say this, not¬
withstanding the conviction for em¬
bezzlement. Frank Jones never in¬
tentionally wronged a man or the
slate out of a penny.

cil has granted permission to Mr.
John Murrow to erect four
store rooms on Third street. These
stores will be single-story struc¬
tures.
It is Mr. M-Urrow’s intention to
erect a two-story building on Main
street at an early date. There is al¬
ways an active demand in Tifton for
buildings, and these will fill along
felt Want.
Mr. 11. Kent has given out a con
tract for the erection of two
"room cottage on North Central ave
nue.
Mr. John Pope is to build a five
fooni cottage on East Fourth street.
Mr. L. S. Shepherd is to erect a

M. 0. Hutson, died at her home at
Jones’ Mill last Wednesday, of heart
failure, and was laid to rest at the
McMillan cemetary Thursday even¬
ing. She. was born and reared at
Mt. Pleasant, S. 0., and was loved
by all who knew her. She leaves a
husband and five children to mourn
her sad death.
