j B2 THE OCONEE ENTERPRISE DECEMBER 19, 2013 Best wishes for a safe and delightful holiday season Question: Do you get to take any time for yourself during this time of the year, and do you have a list of Christmas wishes? Answer: I do attempt to take some time away from the office during this time of year. Many times, we stay home and catch up on all of the “honey-do” jobs that I have let slide for many months. And I do have a few gifts that I Melvin Davis County Talk would like to give during this sea son. For example: ■ Patience for those who work in retail stores and restaurants. They need it during this time of year as they treat all customers with respect regardless of the circumstances. ■ Understanding from our citizens when a request may not be answered as quickly as they would like. ■ A large thank you for those who do a kind deed for anyone. ■ Appreciation for all the Santas of the world. They bring such joy and brightness in the eyes of children. ■ Funds to supply food and cloth ing for those who are less fortunate. There are many who live in Oconee County. ■ A safe return home for those who serve in the military. ■ Huge thanks for those who vol unteer for Oconee County—our firefighters, first responders, com missioner-appointed committees and those who are not appointed but volunteer as coaches, teachers, youth leaders, etc. You are what make Oconee County unique and special. ■ Workplace safety for our law enforcement personnel as well as our county employees. ■ Travel mercies for those who are traveling to visit family and friends during this season of the year. ■ Wisdom for our national, state and local leaders as decisions are made that affect all of us on a daily basis. ■ Good health for each of you. Many of us are so fortunate—too many families have serious health issues. The Davis family’s wish for each of you is to have a blessed Christmas and a safe holiday sea son. Melvin Davis is chairman of the Oconee County Board of Commissioners. Address questions to Davis at mdavis@oconee.ga.us or P.O. Box 145, Watkinsvilie, Ga. 30677.
