Our railroads, onr steamboats, and even our manufacturing es¬ tablishments are beginning to find that they must have young men absolutely free from such habits for responsible position, es¬ pecially wbsr© life and property are at stake, and risked by the neglect, heedlessnoss, incapacity, or carelessness of employees. Boys and young men, if you ever think of asking for or seeking a position or employment, let the above poisons alone. What mer¬ chant, whether free from such habits himself or not, wants or would choose a clerk who was ad¬ dicted to them, or whose breath smells of beer, wine whisky or to¬ bacco? What man orwomau would perfer a doctor whose breath smells of the above poisons, or what congregation would perfer a clergyman to go in and out set¬ ting such an example and thus encouraging the young to use such poisons. Boys and young men, do not be led into slavery by the example of thos8 already enslaved, but retain your “personal liberty.” Save your money, and spend no por¬ tion of it except for some useful purpose. The young man saves his money is not likely to spend the money of others when it is intrusted to his care, and consequently can generally be trusted—he has always the first chance with cautious men. Bu< the young man who spends his money in saloons, or by betting on racing, gambling, etc., is not likely fc} be chosen for a respon¬ sible position by intelligent men No intelligent man or woman can have the same respect for a smok¬ ing, chewing, beer or wine drink¬ ing boy or young man that he can have for one of pure and clean habits. Stop and think be¬ fore you are inslaved. You may be certain that the a bove poisons will seriously inter¬ fere with your success in life, by depriving you of your money, impairing your ability, and less¬ ening the confidence of others in vou. A young man free from such habits, as a rule, is the first to gat a start or employment, and the last to lose either, as you will see if you look around you. He saves his money, his health, and his reputation. DID YOU EVER THINK. That you cannot be well unless you have pure, rich blood? If you are weak, tired, languid and all run down, it is because you are impoverished and lack vitality.
