Misses Maggie Hays, Selema Adams and Leila Greer, and Messrs Pierce Hays, William A dams and Ben Greer, all of Hays ton spent Saturday and Sunday with relatives and friends in our town. Pi of. Stark, superintendent of the Conyers Public schools, was in Conyers yesterday looking around for a suitable house to rent We understand that be got suited and will move sometime next week. Mr. J. J. Langford and his two sons, Messrs. Auther and Clyde, left Conyers Monday for New York and other cities of interest. Mr. Langford will buy a large and elegant stock of goods for his fall trade. Mr Walter L. Adair left Monday morning for New York and other eastern markets, where he goes to purchase a large and elegant stock of fall goods. Look out for his announcement when he re¬ turns. Mrs. Jas. Hollingsworth and son, Mr. Lee, Mrs Dora Argo and Tommie Armistead all went to Hayston last Saturday to visit relatives. Mr. Chas. Argo went down Sunday and all returned home Monday morning. The barbecue at the Union Pa¬ per mills Tuesday, given by Mr. Will Everitt to the singing club at that place, was a delightful af¬ fair. It was well attended, bar bacued meats were plentiful and everybody had a good time. Maj. R. I. Guinn, School Com¬ missioner of Fulton county, was in Conyers yesterday visiting his father and mother. Maj. Guinn made us a pleasant call while here. The hot weather doesn’t seem to have hurt him to any great extent. Mr. W. J. Williams has about completed his new gin house and will be ready for the first cotton. He has put in another gin and al¬ so a suction pipe for the conven lence of his customers. He is now ready to go to ginning. There will be a Republican mass meeting at the court house on Saturday, Aug. 25th at 3 oclock for the purpose of electing dele¬ gates to the convention to be held in Atlanta.
