Wright, of Rome, is the standard bear¬ er of the Populist party of Georgia. The Hon. Tom Watson’s picture seems hard to get. So far none of the newspa¬ pers have got a good likeness of the candidate. Mr. Elder, of Oconee coun¬ ty, is the Populist candidate for the state senate from this senatorial district in opposi¬ tion to Dr. J. A. Stewart, the Democratic nominee. A Texas shoe dealer ad¬ vertised as follows: “Why go elsewhere and pay $2.50 for ladies’ Oxford shoes, when I will sell the identical goods Monday for $2.49?” Ills store was crowded with eager bargain purchasers on Mon¬ day. Hon. \V. H. Fleming, speaker will in be the the last standard legisla¬ ture, bearer of democracy this year in the famous tenth dis¬ trict, which has been made notable throughout the coun¬ try by the bitter campaigns between Hon. J. G. C. Black and Hon. Thomas Watson. For one thing we all should be profoundly thankful. We will the have no mud-slinging All in the candidates present campaign. who have been put forward for national offi¬ ces .arc men of fine character and clean lives, They are honest and earnest exponents of the ideas they represent. The same may be said of our state campaign. It is a bat¬ tle of principles and not of personalities in which we liar are engaged. The campaign will find business dull this year and will probably cut a smaller figure than he has in any election year for a long time.—Atlanta Journal. Morgan county voted on prohibition last Thursday and went “dry” by 523 majority over the “wet” crowd. It was a hard fought battle and the prohibitionists of the county feel good over their victory, Editor Shaw deserves much credit for his untiring efforts in behalf of the “dry” side. lie has made a fearless fight against barrooms and the big majority is in part his reward. The Democratic party can not expect to win in the na¬ tional election with so much strife and division. Some Democrats want Sewall and some want Watson, while it is evidently certain that the Populists all over the coun¬ try are going to stick togeth¬ er and support the St. Louis ticket. To win the tight, either Sewall or Watson will have to be disposed of and harmony restored. Without it defeat seems certain. The editor of the Enquirer Sun, Columbus, Ga,, has been studying the constitution of the United States and iinds that “there is not one word in the constitution of the Uni¬ ted States that requires the free coinage of gold and sil¬ ver. There is not one word in the constitution that can be construed into a mandate for the unlimited coinage of eith¬ er gold or silver. The mon¬ ey of the constitution is clear¬ ly a matter of congressional discretion. The money met¬ al might have been gold or silver, or both. It might have been denominated dollars, or pounds sterling, or ducats. dif¬ It might have been a coin fering in composition, in name and in valuation from any coin known at the time the constitution was framed,” KJOOD’8 Sarsaparilla has over and rl over again proved by its cures, when all other preparations failed, that it is the One True BLOOD Purifier. The nomination of Watson gives the populists in Georgia a dangerous strength never before possessed by them, and will make the coming campaign the hottest in the history of the state, despite the offott of the silver wing to win them back.—Dalton Argus. $100 Reward $ 100 . The readers of this paper will be pleased to learn that there is at least one dreaded disease that science has been able to cure in all its stages and that is catarih. Hall’s Catarrh Cure is the only positive cure now known to the medical fraternity. Catarih be¬ ing a constitutional disease, re¬ quires a constitutional treatment. Hall’s Catarrh Cure is taken in¬ ternally, and aoting directly upon the blood mucous surfaces of the system, foundation thereby destroying the of the disease, and giving the patient strength by building up the constitution and assisting nature in cieing its work The proprietors have so much taith in its curative powers that they offer One Hundred Dollars for any case that it fails to cure, Send for list of testimonials. San¬ ford, Lf^.D., the distinguished and venerable mathematician and astronomer, died last Sun day at his residence in Macon at about noon, in the eighty first year of his age, Prof. Sanford was for fifty years a member of the facul ty of Mercer university. His life has been one of distinc¬ tion and great usefulness, and as a college professor and an author of arithmetics, his name is well known through¬ out this broad land. He was the father of Mr. Charlie V. Sanford, who was for many years a highly esteemed citi¬ zen of our city. There is not a school boy or girl in this country who does not know of “Sanford’s Arithmetic,” if they havent studied it. Prof. Sanford’s name is familiar in almost ev¬ ery household and in many places he was personally known, Though he has ceased to live and write, his past works will yet live on and stand out as a monument to the memo¬ ry of him who was a great man and a most distinguished Georgian, OASTOniA. That it does escape, I am convinced, as more than one sense bears testimony to the fact. Answer.— The most popular absorb¬ ent of ammonia is fine ground land plaster or gypsum. Any low grade pot¬ ash salts will also prevent the escape of the ammonia. If either is sprinkled in the stable daily it will prevent any dis¬ agreeable odor arising from the decom¬ posing manures. As to which should be used depends very much on the land on which the manure is to be applied. If the land needs potash, then nsekainit, which contains about 12 pounds of pot¬ ash to the 103 pounds, or some other potash salts. Where the land needs lime, use plaster. Woods earth is also a good absorbent.—State Agricultural Department. THE DISCOVERY SAVED HIS LIFE. . Mr. G. Louis, Mo., would give an elegant plated book spoon to any one sending her ten 2 cent stamps. I sent for one and found it so useful i bat I showed it to my friends and made $13 in two hours, taking orders for the spoon. The hook spoon is a household necessity. It cannot slip into the dish or cooking vessel, being held in the plaieby a hook on the back. The sooon is something housekeepers have needed ever since spoons were first invented. Any one can get a sample spoon by sending ten 2 cent stamps to Miss Fritz. This is a splendid way to make money around home. - Very truly, Jf.nnette 8 . MONEY MADE in a MINUTE.
