Frauk is clever, accomodating and polite and a good salesman. THE FIRST BALE. The first bale of new cotton for Rockdale was brought to Con¬ yers yesterday by Mr. G. J. Hol¬ lingsworth, of near Smyrna. It was sold to the highest bidder and was knocked down on II. P. <fc D. M. Almand & Co. at 10 cents a pound. If we are not mistaken Mr. Hollingswoth has brought in the first bale for three years past. He is one of our best farmers and never fails on taking the prize for good crops. Mr. J. C. Crum¬ ley, of Henry county, brought in another bale about an bout* be¬ hind Mr. Hollingsworth, and sold to the same firm that bought good the first bale. It was classet middling and brought cents. I T. 1 . \£ 1 C. A GOOD MAN PASSES A WAY. Rev. H. F. Buchanan died last Monday night at 8 o’c ock at his home in ibis city, on Decatur street, in the 76 year of his age. He had been in very feeble health for a year or more and was first up then down for a long time until some weeks ago when he was forced to take his bed for good. From this last attack he never rallied and gradually grew weak¬ er and weaker until last Monday night, when his pure spirit oassed peacefully to the great beyond, and his eyes opened upon the e ternal glories of the heavenly home. “Uucle Back,’’ as he was gen¬ erally called by everybody, was loved by all our people and held ♦ he confidence and high esteem of all who kuew him. In his death the Baptist denomination loses a most able minister, and he will be mourned as a truly good man. The interment occuired in Eastview vemeteiy Tuesday af¬ ternoon, after funeral services at the Conyers Baptist church by Rev. J. M. DeFoor. assisted by Revs. David Shaver and J. R. George. He was laid to rest with masonic honors, of which order he was an old and honored mem¬ ber. The bereaved relatives have our sympathy in their sad hour of trial.
