The first new bale of cotton for Conyers was braught in last Wed¬ nesday by UJcie Horace Smith and sold to Tucker & Almand, for 6 cts. It weighed 483 pounds. We have labored under many difficulties this week, hence, the paper is not as good as we would have liked to have it. Miss Josie Hardin, a pretty and attractive young lady of Tocoa, is visiting in the city this week, the guest of Miss Ludie Everit-t. Miss. A negro boy in Alabama shot another Monday with a gun loaded with pebles the size of mar¬ bles. It is thought the injured ne¬ gro will die. Dr. Henry Quigg was down at Hayston, Wednesday, and assisted in installing Rev. Joseph Clotfel ter as pastor of the Presbyterian church at that place. — Covington star. Four member of the Georgia leg¬ islature have died since that body adjourned last December. Out at Salem last Suuday, a horse belonging to Mr. C.
