Growing Crops.
The grass crop is not a failure.
The corn crop promises to be us
lage as ever grown.
The grain crop in South ( arolina
will be an average one.
The crops from Wad ley to Davis
boro, Ga., are the best seen in years.
Growing crops of all kinds below
and north of Columbus., are very
fine.
Lawson Kelly, of Mnnnerlyn,
Burke county, reports crops good in
that county.
Lowndes county, Ga., will make
the bust corn crop she ever made.
Cotton doing well.
Both corn and cotton in the neigh
borhood of Rockingham, N. C., arc
in fine condition.
Crops look more promising in the
vicinity of Judsonia, Ark., than they
did early in the season.
R. E. Falligant, of Screven coun¬
ty, has 80 acres in cotton which give
propose of a yield of 80 bales.
Reports from the cotton belt in
Texas state that while cotton is two
weeks late it is in splendid condi¬
tion.
Lee Barrow, of Washington coun¬
ty, has a new ground of 15 acres in
corn that will make 300 bushels.
The corn crop in Pulaski county is
much better than usual. Cotton is
growing rapidly and an average crop
is expected.
The corn crop in Harris county,
Ga., promises to be the largest ever
grown in that county, while cotton
presents a fine appearance.
The Albany (Ga.,) News reports
t he condition of the crops as satis
factory. Corn is made, and cotton
is putting on a more promising out
look.
Henry vv illiams, of Leo county,
Ga., has three acres in groundpeas
■which average three feet across, and
many measure four feet from side to
side.
The Greensboro (Ga.,) Home Jour¬
nal publishes letters from all p irts of
Greene county showing that the
crops of corn and cotton are fine and
the prospect excellent for a splendid
yield.
The upland corn growing on the
plantations of Dr. Dupree and James
A. Flipper, near Sommerville, Term,
is the. finest ever seen on the land,
and promises a large yield. Fer¬
tilized with cotton seed.
Truck Farm Notes.
Alachua county, Fla., produces 9
pound egg plants.
Col. Reuben Jones, of Baker coun¬
ty, Ga., raises 06 pound melons with
ease.
Air. Davis, of \Vashington county
Ga., is considered the boss water¬
melon raiser of his section.
Mr. Davis, of Blythewood, S. C.,
raised a melon weighing 81J pounds,
for which he received $5.
The Albany News states that the
melon growers in that section have
made money on their crop—some
realizing more than last season.
The Valdosta (Ga.,) Times takes a
gloomy view of the melon business
and says that owing to high rates of
transportation the traffic is a failure.
Thos. E. Wilson, of Sylvan Lake,
Fla., produced on pine land without
fertilizers, turnips weighing thir¬
teen pounds, beets weighing six and
onions weighing 24) pounds each.
Stoves may be kept looking nice a
long time by rubbing every morning
with a newspaper.
