That morning he saw several of his neighbors, armed with fishing poles, pass his place on their way to the river. This furnished him a theme and he pray¬ ed about as follows: “Oh. Lord, I saw several of my friends this morning going down into the Lophaw swamp fishing in sterd of coming to church. Good Lord, send hornets and wasps and yellow-jackets and horse-flies and yellow-flies and red-bugs, and make them sting them and bite them till they arc forced to flee from the swamp and seek shelter in the church.” THE WEEKLY PRESS. The question of a Weekly Press Convention having been suggested by the Solid South some two months ago, has been very thought¬ fully discussed, and with possibly a few dissenters, the demand is gen¬ eral for such a cenvention. It is insisted that I call this con veiation and name the place and time. To name the place I am un¬ willing to do. However, the con¬ vention is hereby called to meet on the 5th of August in Conyers or Milledgeville, whichever may be se¬ lected. Every Paper that intends to be represented in the Association will notify the undersigned, and state which place it prefers to meet. Let all send in their acceptance by the 20th of July, If the majority are for Milledgeville then the conven¬ tion will meet in that city, other¬ wise in Conyers. Some of the objects of the meet¬ ing will be to establish uniform rates for foreign advertisements based upon circulation; to estab¬ lish a bureau of information to protect the Weekly press against fraudulent advertisers and adver¬ tising agents; to demad cash con¬ tracts of all agencies and otherwise free the Weekly press of the many impositions put upon it Daily and Weekly papers please copy.
