Advertising rates made known on Demand Job Work Neatly and Promptly Executed. Conklins is dead, Beecher is dead, but Bnrchnrd still lives to fret Jimmie Blaine. If Blaine and Depew are the re¬ publican presidential candidates, what then? Bent ’em. The man who never made a mis¬ take in his life is deaf, dumb, blind and still unmarried. The Democrats of Georgia want twenty-four genuine tariff reformers to represent them in the St. Louis convention. To call a man “a liar and a dirty dog” in the Senate of the United States is not elegant or parliamen¬ tary, but sometimes it is awfully true. The great leader, the Atlanta Constitution, has tossed lip the sponge on the tariff. With all their boasted influence they can’t carry the honest Georgia democ¬ racy. The Constitution has flopped, or in other words, is now in line with the Weekly, Such support as the Constitution is capable of giving will add something to the influence of the great Weekly in the fight for a modification of the tariff. Somebody wants our definition of a “truly unselfish man.” Well, to boil it down, wo should say that a man who would rather chop wood after buisiness hours for the benefit of the hired girl than see a tax col¬ lector struct by lightning is a truly unselfish man. Daniel Lookwood, who has had the honor of nominating Grover Cleveland for sheriff, mayor, gov¬ ernor and President will probably be accorded the privilege of nom¬ inating President Cleveland for his second term. As a nominator Daniel is a success. It appears now that the people of Georgia are in full accord with Sen¬ ator Colquitt’s tariff views. It might be in order for the senator to serve the Constitution with a .no¬ tice that he is going back to con gresss. Tt is thought that John Sherman will go to the convention with the largest delegation, but not a num¬ ber sufficient to nominate him. Jimmie Blaine, however, is still shifting around at mid ocean, and lie may by a strange fatality fur¬ nish the body for the democratic party to sacrifice again. The Constitution states that if the country press knew Sam Small as well as Atlanta people know him there would be no exhibition of ill temper any where. As for our part we view the whole thing as a Small affair, and it will not be many days before the whole people can unite in singing Sams. A recent writer agrees with Arte nius Ward that the best way to read character is not to try. No man ever had a fixed character— it is always varying. We pass judgment upon our neighbors as men of good and bad character, but we know as little about them as we know about ourselves. Daniel Voorhees denounced In galls, the Kansas fire spitter, this week most bitterly in the senate chamber, ‘^ngalls for doubtless blood, and was out o{“#he>Mnlmor coulc^’’jwJtW, i aittifor. 1 j&bpriety all exclaim : “Whe» peace my ene mies kHhfbt!***«■■’ Ingalls is a fun¬ ny mjwa. .Some of his critics say that dttrihg’p-Mtee he 1 is for war, and 'during.vyar He is distressingly fond »{ peatise. l * • < 'a* ‘ : ‘ r ">■ The Delightful Liquid Laxative.
