The old raster he dide, but the cat didn’t.” A very serious and shockingly severe development of Texas cattle fever is manifesting itself in several of the Northwestern States, the pe-; culiarity of this manifestation be¬ ing that it is not confined to cattle massed in stocky ards, but is spread¬ ing itself to an alarming extent among the farming districts and causing heavy destruction. At the present rate of progress of the dis¬ ease it will in a few years spread the over the whole country, unless most thorough and stringent reme¬ dies and safeguards are adopted.
