The county alliance will meet with Union sub-alliance at Union in Lor¬ raine district on Saturday, July 11th at 9 o’clock, a. m. It has been veay successful in its first term and promises to largely increse in the future. On wery hand we here no¬ thing but praise for the teachers, Mi-, and Mrs. Perry. Col. E. J. Reagin and family of McDonough are visiting in the city. Col- \V. L. Peek left yesterday for New Rork. This morning at 1 o’clock Mr. Walter Wood and Miss Annie Lou Cannon were united in marriage at the residence of Elder Eli McDaniel), Mr. McDaniell performing the ceremony. The wedding was to have occurred last Wednesday but the Miss Cannon’s parents interfered but last night the two lovers made good their escape from the old peo¬ ple and came to town and were mar ried at once, the license haying been obtained several days ago. JAIL DELIVERY. Will Hogan, the negro who broken into Mr. G. P. Eliott’s store about six weeks ago, escaped from the jail Tuesday night. He was in the sec¬ ond story and succeeded in burning through the overhead and removing the covering and escaping without detection. Sheriff Austin thinks the burning was done Monday night. Tuesday he said he detected someth¬ ing in the jail that smelled like fire and asked Hogan if he had been tiding to burn out again. Hogan said not, but Sheriff Austin examined the ceiling in his cell but discovered nothing. The hole was burned just over she door as you enter and it is so dark you would not discover it unless you made a close exam nation. Hogan wrote a long letter to sheriff Austin in which he agrees to never do any other devilment in this town or county if they will just let him go. This fiend ought to be cought and hung. No such characters should be placed even in the Coal mines. F. M. Wilson who was convicted of the murder of J. T. Dillard last Au¬ gust and sentenced to the penitentiary for life broke jail at Forsyth Thursday night and made good his escape. Pine Log bridge will be down the first of next week for two or three days for repair. We received a communication from Union Alliance this week, but it has been misplaced and we are unable to find it. It was in regard to the county meeting on the 11th of July-, and will be published as soon as a copy can be obtained. Col. Albert Cox delivered a fine literary address in the court house last night to a large crowd on the occasion of the closing of the High School. Come again boys, we are always glad to see you. Charlie George, qutte a popular young doctor of Lithonia, was seen in the community Sunday. Mr. Mat Nunnally, of Monroe, vis ited here Sunday. Miss Emma Almand and several others from Conyers attended our Sunday school Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. W. Y. Almand visted here this week. Miss Ida White has been quite sick for two weeks, but glad to learn she is some better today. Mr. P. Plunkett wears a broad smile now—its a bouncing boy. Miss Ida Parrish quite a attractive young lady of Oconee is visiting the Misses Haygood. There was quite an enjoyable sing¬ ing at Mr. 0. S. Haygood’s last night. The young people of Oak Grove are going out to Irwin’s bridge this evening on a fishing expedition, how¬ ever, there will be more fishing on dry land than in the river. WARNING.
