JAIL DELIVERY.
Will Hogan, the negro who broken
into Mr. G. P. Eliott’s store about
six weeks ago, escaped from the jail
Tuesday night. He was in the sec¬
ond story and succeeded in burning
through the overhead and removing
the covering and escaping without
detection. Sheriff Austin thinks the
burning was done Monday night.
Tuesday he said he detected someth¬
ing in the jail that smelled like fire
and asked Hogan if he had been
tiding to burn out again. Hogan
said not, but Sheriff Austin examined
the ceiling in his cell but discovered
nothing. The hole was burned just
over she door as you enter and it is
so dark you would not discover it
unless you made a close exam nation.
Hogan wrote a long letter to sheriff
Austin in which he agrees to never
do any other devilment in this town
or county if they will just let him go.
This fiend ought to be cought and
